POLICIES
1. Grading Policy
The grading is a relative grading system as per the School of Business grading policy. A class
ranking will be made with the top 35% receiving A+/A, the next 40% B+/B, and the last 25% C+
to F. If an absolute grade system is in effect, then it will be approximately 45%/45%/10% instead
of the above percentages. Grades are given based on a class ranking out of a possible 1000
points.

2. Case Studies
a. The 12 case studies are “peer evaluated” & include a writing assignment.
b. The peer evaluation portion will be worth 50 points and the writing portion 25 points.
c. The objective of the Case Study writing assignment is to complete the writing assignment
task with the correct format while logically, supporting arguments/statements while
giving many details. Please pay close attention to appropriate writing length, grammar,
punctuation, and spelling. Not following the format exactly will reduce your score.
d. Late CSs will result in a maximum of 50 points. If absent from class, complete the writing
assignment portion of the CS and turn it in on time to receive 40 points (unexcused) or
65 points (excused).
e. Students who do not try to participate (do not speak in English) during the online class,
should be reported to Dr. B. by the TC (email or personal Kakao message me).
f. If you do not accept the peer grading system, please do not register for my class…
3. Mid-term & Final Exam
a. The Mid-term and Final Exams will be (CS #6) and the Final Exam will be (CS #12). These
case studies are the same value as the other 10 case studies (75 points each). Therefore,
the Midterm and Final are just for entering into the Inha portal (blackboard) as per Inha
policy.
4. Final Project & Presentation
a. There will be no Final Project or Presentation this semester.
5. Participation
a. Participation is REQUIRED for this class. Please see Section 1: Assignments (Part d).
6. Attendance
a. Five (5) or more absences will result in an F grade unless approved by the Professor.
b. If a student does not participate actively, or does not speak, then the student may be
considered absent.
c. Ten (10) participation points will be deducted for every absence.
d. In the case of missing class due to being hired by a company:
i. Inha CBA Office approval is required first, plus two signed required forms by CBA.
ii. A maximum of a C+ can be awarded.
7. Course Objectives
a. To create a fun, exciting, and comfortable classroom learning atmosphere for students so
that they can feel confident to speak English in every class.
b. Teaching style will be a contribution, learning goal, and assessment method.
c. To increase cooperation and understanding and build social networks between class
members through four groups during the semester.
d. To increase students’ Business English knowledge, and communication skills and prepare
students for the real-world business environment, challenges, and company life.
i. This course is an interactive multimedia course for business students,
incorporating discussions, listening/reading, language work, business skills, case
studies and cross-cultural business understanding in American business English.
ii. This class is a business class taught 100% in English. This course will focus on
business case studies and focused on real business situations.
8. Office Hours
a. During the summer/winter semesters there are no set office hours. If you wish to ask me
a question or speak with me, please email me. You can also send me a message in our
Kakao group chat if it is not of a private nature. Please be sure to email me at
bradsbrennan@gmail.com and not email me at my Inha email account
(bbrennan@inha.ac.kr) since I rarely check that email account.
9. Other
a. Mid-term exams, final exams, final projects, presentations, and participation scores are
graded subjectively by Prof. Brennan. “Subjective grading” means it is Prof. Brennan’s
opinion, so there are no grade negotiations and grades are final.
b. Semester grades are FINAL unless there is a mistake with grade book input.
c. Prof. Brennan will not change your final grade unless there is an error on a score, so do
not ask for your grade to be raised.
d. Prof. Brennan reserves the right to lower your grade if you ask for a higher grade and it is
not related to an error in inputting grades or a missing score, etc.
e. SAVE ALL RETURNED GRADED PAPERS (this is your proof of your score).
f. Prof. Brennan’s primary goals for his students in this class are:
i. Having fun!
ii. Making new friends!
iii. Becoming more proficient, knowledgeable, and confident speaking in English!
