The Inverted U Hypothesis suggests that optimal performance occurs at an intermediate level of arousal while both low and high levels of arousal will result in impaired performance. 2. An example of a performance in my life where this hypothesis proves to be true was when I was I was participating in a game of soccer. During the game I played better if I was excited about the upcoming match especially when my team was playing against a team with players whom I attended school with. While the soccer position as a winger,I would heavily depend on the center midfielders to get me the passes. As a winger, you must constantly keep your arousal levels high throughout the game. This hypothesis also proves to be true in a situation when I was going to takes schoo,exam. I feel I put mire effort and tried harder while taking an exam when I was some what anxious about your score I would earn. In psychology, this type of relationship between arousal levels and performance is also known as the Yerkes-Dodson Law.
