STUDY TIPS FOR STUDENTS
1. Choose a place and time. Everyone has their own idea about the best place and time to study so choose
carefully.
2. Study every day and every minute possible because exams are just a little over two weeks away.
3. Design and have a plan for each day. This will help you to use your time effectively.
4. Discover and understand what works best for you and use it to your advantage. If group discussions work then
have group discussions where possible.
5. Review and revise constantly, even when you have only a 10 minute break.
6. Take breaks when necessary and ONLY when necessary.
7. Ask for help, and use the resources (human and non-human) available. If you are having a little trouble with a
specific topic speak to either a teacher, a peer or find a book or website that will assist.
8. STAY MOTIVATED!!! Believe that you can do well and put in the work that will help you to do well.
TIPS FOR HELPING CHILDREN PREPARE FPOR EXAMS
1. Lessen distractions and time wasters. Restrict time for watching T.V, playing on tablets, using phones and
social activities until exams are done.
2. Establish one set study area.
3. Remind your son/ ward to pray and relax/ meditate if and when they are feeling overwhelmed.
5. Minimize chores where possible.
6. Stock the fridge and feed the brain. Please ensure that they are eating foods that will help them function at
their best (more fresh fruits and vegetables)
7. Know the exam timetable
8. Boost productivity with short-term rewards
"you can do all you like when the exams are over in just a couple of weeks", you might consider that this is an
eternity for a teenager.
If you want to encourage them to study more or to highlight the progress that they're making, suggest a reward
system based on very short-term goals.
9. Talk to them about your experiences with exams and exam preparation. If that doesn’t work encourage them
to talk to somebody who has recently come through the exam and can shed some light on any existing fears.
10. Once they have started studying encourage them to teach what they have learnt. This will not only help
them to reinforce what they have learnt but it will also help to develop a more positive relationship between
student and parent/ ward.
