I personally have had a great interest in finance field for a long time, thanks to my father who has been working as a financial analyst for diverse companies in my country. Nonetheless, developing this interest was not purely based on this experience, but also my natural curiosity into math and economics. Therefore, upon graduation from the high school, I decided to continue my education path in Finance at Baku Engineering University. Indeed, the offered curriculum has been quite comprehensive, which in turn showed me how such diverse field finance itself has become in modern world, the offered courses covered crucial aspects of the discipline, such as Corporate finance, Investment Analysis, Risk Management. Such finance courses helped me hone my finance knowledge, while igniting my further interest for practical aspects of the field. Apart from day-to-day classes at university, participating at different sets of business case competitions like ABCC, CFA Research challenge, Stock Pitch Competitions enhanced my practical problem-solving competencies. While taking my regular university classes, understanding the importance of internationally recognized certification systems, I decided to start preparation for exams, such as CFA and ACCA (F1-F9). Despite not being easy, thanks to my dedication and natural curiosity, I successfully passed these exams, which I believe has been and will be a great asset to my personal development and career. CFA program assisted me to deepen my knowledge especially on macro and microeconomics, while learning a lot about statistical studies and investments in modern world. ACCA, on the other hand, enabled me gain practical skills by working on various modules. Coming to my work experience, Veyseloglu LLC was my first step into the employment, which has enhanced data-driven decision-making, quantitative and critical thinking skills of mine by involving real business cases. Thanks to the wide implications of finance sector, I had the chance of overtaking different positions at various companies in Azerbaijan. In my previous position as an Executive 1 in Deals Advisory Department at KPMG Azerbaijan LLC, I was responsible for various tasks including Business Valuation projects and financial modeling and analysis, coming up with solutions, and giving assumptions. This company works with some big corporations, which in turn gave me first-hand experience of working in such a hectic and demanding work environment. Getting the chance to work with the latest tools such as E-views, and SPSS, Power BI, Tableau, etc. at KPMG was a real perk for me to hone my practical skills. Besides these, TWC Management Consulting has benefited my personal development process a lot, too. Main responsibilities of mine included conducting feasibility studies for new business lines, making market research and finding market size of target companies, and then formulating business strategy for them. Taking such as position was rather challenging for me in the beginning, since it included a lot of responsibilities that had to be met in time and decently. Apart from analyzing current situation of the target company both financially and strategically, identifying key issues and proposing solutions to optimize the business and expand its core business operations using different strategy tools like SWOT, PESTEL, Porter’s 5 forces, Balanced scorecard and etc. was included in my job description. After graduating from my bachelor's degree, and having gained these practical experiences, I have decided to pursue my master's degree in a more specific field. The offered master’s degree of Wealth Management has drawn my attention owing to some specific reasons. The foremost reason is my personal interest into such a detail-oriented and challenging field itself, since it combines many aspects of finance, legislation, and taxation in itself. On the bright side, by studying this master program one can get to have a chance to work with a rather wide range of clients, which promises bright career prospects for the future, meaning that not only individual clients, but also big corporation can become a client for a successful wealth manager. Luxembourg University offers a quite comprehensive and unique program for someone, like me, to develop their skills so as to become qualified in wealth management field. The fact that the offered program is quite international and gives its graduates the chance to work in various parts of the world has been encouraged me a lot in applying to this master's degree at your university. Wide range of courses covering needed knowledge on tax, legislation, finance and people-to-people contact is well structured in the program’s curriculum, which I highly value, since this program in itself is rather inter-disciplinary and cannot be excelled at only through one aspect. Also combination of both practical and empirical aspects of the field into one program is a very big upside, since one of them with the other is usually insufficient to become qualified in a field, especially in such practical fields as wealth management. Therefore, I am thankful about the possibility of internships during the study period. Coming to my future plans upon graduation from my master's degree, I plan to pursue my further professional career as a qualified advisory consultant. Working in one of top international investment or consulting companies like Goldman Sachs, MBB has become my target, since working in a related field has proved me right that I can really develop myself in this field. Since courses taken will improve both my technical competencies and theoretical knowledge, I am confident that I will be qualified enough to develop myself and my career into further steps.
