Galura, Reiner Joshua S. BS-Criminology 3 Professional Conduct and Ethical Standard Submit news clippings or search for online news article relating the study of ethics and morality in relation to police work. I browsed the internet specifically the news channels to look for some interesting stories that happened in the past. And here is what caught my attention the most. The controversial killing of Jonel Nuezca to a mother and her son who’s named Sonia and Frank Gregorio in Paniqui Tarlac year 2020. Link: https://youtu.be/R3SrBplgrEk Reflection Honestly speaking I tried to look for something positive stories of news about our police. But it also came into I need to look for the negative things that happened before so that it can give me a lesson and also so that I can learn from it to not repeat that mistake again. To start off since we are studying about the ethical standard, I want to answer the question, is it an ethical act? Well, we all know that it is not ethical, one of the meaning of ethics is that it is the science of morality of human acts. And I remember what my professor in this subject told us, that not every act that a human being does is not distinctively human act. Sadly, it’s true specially in this case. I also remember that in the organization of PNP they have a code of conduct and one of the reasons why they have it because they want to “facilitate the renewal of commitment of it’s member and to behave according to the tenets expected of a true law enforcement officer”. It’s really sad that there are still law enforcers doesn’t behave as one. Still so many officers are doing immoral acts that also causes harm to other humans. I am hoping that other officers must always choose to be patient and understanding when dealing such situation. Because they are expected to serve and protect the community from possible harm and yet sometimes, they are the one who cause the fear to the community instead of trust. I hope that this will not happen again in the future and I also believe that not all law enforcers are like that, there are still officers who live according to what is moral and right. Hopefully the community can see that.
