Child Abuse and Violence
The most urgent health
problem in this scenario
is child abuse and
violence. Marco's abusive
behavior towards both
Elena and, more
importantly, her son
Carmelo, is a grave
concern. Carmelo was
physically assaulted to
the point where he
couldn't walk or talk for
days. This constitutes a
severe health and safety
risk to both Elena and her
children, especially
Carmelo.
Marco is industrious and
generally quiet, but on
some occasions, while
under the influence of
liquor, he was very
abusive to his wife and
most especially to
Carmelo who at one time,
Marco beat with a rattan
whip. The boy couldn’t
walk nor talk for days.
