The opinion piece titled ‘Challenges for gender equity when schools reopen: Early warning signs’ clearly
conveys the topic that is discussed in the article. It talks about how, in lieu of this pandemic, the
decade’s worth of progress made to decrease the gender disparity in terms of education, has been lost,
with the starting of online schooling and the unavailability of resources for such in majority of the rural
areas. The author has uncomplicated claims and arguments and evidence to support them, in the form
of statistical data and educational policies introduced by the government. Her claim that there is a
relation between a father’s level of education and the children’s schooling status is supported and
proven right with statistical data from ASER 2018. Overall, with clear claims and arguments and evidence
to support it and subheadings for comprehensive reading, the author has written a brilliant opinion
piece.
