Experience
WORK EXPERIENCE:
AMERICAN BUREAU OF SHIPPING, Houston TX, South Korea, Dubai, Vietnam 05/0710/2009
I worked as a Marine Surveyor. I surveyed both in new construction and after construction
of both ships and offshore installations in order to ensure that the rules for classification,
as well as international regulations and individual nation’s requirements for building and
classing vessels were upheld and maintained.
In Vietnam:
Strategic Marine Vietnam Shipyard: Surveyed in the new construction at all stages of two
advanced dynamic positioning offshore supply/dive support/firefighting vessels.
Vung Tau Shipyard: Damage and repair surveys of a barge, and certification of all
welders.
P.T.S.C. Shipyard: Annual surveys onboard small offshore supply vessels.
Saigon Shipyard: New construction surveys of Lift Boats.
Offshore: Galveston Key (Jack up drilling rig) UWILD (underwater inspection in lieu of dry
docking) survey, and verified all outstanding comments while jacked up and floating,
FPSO sub sea drape chain repair, FSO annual survey and drape chain angle review.
In South Korea:
SeKwang Shipyard: New construction at all stages of a 13000 DWT Chemical Tanker.
From Blocks, erection, outfitting (installation of all machinery, piping systems, electrical
equipment, and cargo handling equipment), sea trial and delivery. Including all
qualification of welders, and welding procedure testing.
Hyundai Heavy Industries: Survey of the cargo containment system placement inside an
LPG tanker.
Vendors: Visited many vendors for survey of heat exchangers, generator and generator
engines, steel mills, welding consumable factories, welding procedure testing, propeller
mills, and other casting factories.
DSME Shipyard: Worked on the safety equipment construction and safety equipment
surveys for Chevron’s FPSO Agbami. Also, the hull structure surveys of a VLCC at the
block and erection stage.
Samsung Shipyard: New construction surveys for OOCL’s 4500 TEU container ships at all
stages. From blocks, erection, outfitting (installation of all machinery, piping systems,
electrical equipment, and cargo handling equipment), sea trial and delivery.
POSCO Steel Mill: Reviewed material composition sheets as well as test piece analysis
for flat plate steel.

In Dubai:
Dry Docks World-Dubai: Worked on the conversion of a tanker into the F.P.S.O. Frade
owned by Chevron.
At Sea: Assisted with the Special Survey of a tanker while underway.
AMERICAN SHIP MANAGEMENT (A.P.L.), Alameda 07/04–12/04; 07/05-08/05 & 11/054/06
I worked as Third Mate. I stood the 8-12 watch, ensuring the safe navigation of the vessel,
as well as letting go, tying up, maintaining other fire and emergency responsibilities while
on board.

MATSON NAVIGATION, Oakland, June 2004 – July 2004
I worked as Third Mate. I stood the 8-12 watch, and conducted all safety inspections as
well as held safety meetings and demonstrations on their new container ship the Manukai.
BLUE & GOLD/BAY LINK FERRIES, San Francisco, CA February 2001 - August 2002
I assisted the head engineer in all the scheduled engine maintenance tasks on their three
fast ferries.
