I. Read the following passage carefully
CHANDRAYAAN - 3
1.National Space Day will be celebrated on August 23 every year as announced by Honorable
Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi to commemorate Chandrayaan- 3 Triumph. As
per ISRO's latest update, The Chandrayaan 3 Rover Pragyaan has come out from the
Lander. Pragyan rover has traversed a distance of 8m on the moon already! Every Indian is
proud about the soft-landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon! In the vast space of our
universe, where mythology and science come together so often, Chandrayaan-3 shines
brightly as a symbol of India’s astral hope and exploration. It shows India's strong
determination to uncover the moon's mysteries. With careful planning and robust designs,
Chandrayaan-3 has gotten us to land on the moon and discover its hidden secrets.
2.Chandrayaan-3 is India's ambitious and successful lunar mission. Following the footsteps
of its predecessors, Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2. Chandrayaan-3 is India's
successful attempt to achieve a soft landing on the southern pole Moon's surface. India is the
only country to reach this part of the moon, so far. Indian Space Research Organization
(ISRO) started this project to achieve a successful landing on the moon's surface with its
Vikram lander which deployed Pragyaan rover to conduct experiments and gather valuable
data. The mission is focused on studying the moon's geology, mineralogy, and exosphere,
which will contribute to our understanding of the moon's origin and evolution. The mission
objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface,
to demonstrate rover roving on the moon and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments. To
achieve the mission objectives, several advanced technologies are present in Lander such as
laser & RF-based Altimeters, Velocimeters, Propulsion System, etc. To demonstrate such
advanced technologies successfully in earth conditions, several lander special tests, like
Integrated Cold Test, Integrated Hot test and Lander Leg mechanism performance test, had
been planned and carried out successfully. Through Chandrayaan-3, India aims to showcase
its technological prowess, scientific capabilities, and its commitment to space exploration. If
Chandrayaan-3’s success further strengthens India's position in the global space community.
This mission inspires the younger generation like you to pursue careers in science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
A. Answer the following questions

ADITYA-L1 MISSION
1.The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)’s Aditya-L1 mission, the first spacebased Indian observatory to study the Sun. According to an ISRO “The spacecraft will be
placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, which is
about 1.5 million km from the Earth. A satellite placed in the halo orbit around the L1 point
has the major advantage of continuously viewing the Sun without any occultation and
eclipses. This will provide a greater advantage of observing the solar activities and its effect
on space weather in real time.” As ISRO says, the spacecraft will be put in orbit around the
L1 point, from where it will be able to observe the Sun without obstructions.
2.A Lagrange point, as defined by NASA, is a position in space where “the gravitational pull
of two large masses precisely equals the centripetal force required for a small object to move
with them. These points in space can be used by spacecraft to reduce fuel consumption
needed to remain in position.” Basically, this means that at that point, the gravitational
attraction and repulsion between two heavenly bodies is such that an object placed between
them will effectively stay in the same relative position while moving with them. The Lagrange
points are named in honor of Italian-French mathematician Josephy-Louis Lagrange, and
there are five of them: L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5. According to NASA, “The L1 point of the
Earth-Sun system affords an uninterrupted view of the Sun and is currently home to the
Solar”NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is at L2. “What is special about this orbit is that
it lets the telescope stay in line with the Earth as it moves around the Sun. This allows the
satellite’s large sunshield to protect the telescope from the light and heat of the Sun and
Earth (and Moon)”Every planet, including Earth and the exoplanets beyond the Solar
System, evolves and this evolution is governed by its parent star. The solar weather and
environment affect the weather of the entire system. Variations in this weather can change
the orbits of satellites or shorten their lives, interfere with or damage onboard electronics,
and cause power blackouts and other disturbances on Earth. Knowledge of solar events is
key to understanding space weather. To learn about and track Earth-directed storms, and to
predict their impact, continuous solar observations are needed. Every storm that emerges
from the Sun and heads towards Earth passes through L1. That is why it is important to
study the sun.
A. Answer the following questions

NEERAJ CHOPRA
1.Neeraj was born in Panipat district, Haryana. His family is largely involved in agriculture.
He did his schooling from BVN Public School. He graduated from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic
College in Chandigarh. Impressed with Chopra's performance at the South Asian Games the
Indian Army offered him a direct appointment as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in
the Rajputana Rifles with the rank of Naib Subedar. He accepted the offer and joined the
army under sports quota. After local children teased him about his childhood obesity,
Chopra's father enrolled him in a gym. While playing at Shivaji stadium in Panipat, he saw
some javelin throwers and began participating himself.
2.Observing Chopra's ability to achieve a 40-metre throw without training and impressed by
his drive, Choudhary became his first coach. Chopra learned the basics of the sport from
Choudhary and a few more experienced athletes in Jalandhar. He soon won his first medal,
a bronze in the district championships. In 2013, Neeraj Chopra entered his first international
competition, the World Youth Championships, Ukraine. He won his first international medal
in 2014, a silver at the Youth Olympics Qualification in Bangkok. He achieved his first throw
of over 70 metres at the 2014 senior nationals. In 2015, Chopra broke the previous world
record in the junior category, throwing 81.04 metres in the 2015 All India Inter-University
Athletics meet, this was his first throw of over 80 metres. On 4 August 2021, Chopra made
his debut at the Olympics, representing India in the Japan National Stadium. He topped his
qualifying group for entry to the final with a throw of 86.65 metres. Chopra won the gold
medal in the final on 7 August with a throw of 87.58 metres in his second attempt, becoming
the first Indian Olympian to win a gold medal in athletics, and the first post-independence
Indian Olympic medalist in athletics.
