ART OF TEACHING SCIENCE By: Marvin S. Fernandez Teaching is an art that stems from the teacher's own personal experience and practice. It comprises observing students in a classroom to understand their strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to assist them in reaching their maximum potential. Being authentic to the pupils, not just the "teacher," is an aspect of the art of teaching. Adapting lesson plans to deal with melancholy or joy requires a high level of sensitivity. There is no way to teach a teacher how to deal with any critical difficulties by reading a book. In a crisis, the teacher must be ready to make split-second, emotion-driven decisions that will affect the classroom climate immediately. This one-of-a-kind artistic talent is required for planning and constructing lessons or projects that will engage learners' minds. A big portion of teaching is something the teacher "acquired slowly and meticulously through mentors, self-discipline, acceptance, innovation, and creative thinking." Art of teaching is also a science, teachers need to observe, have an experiment, and innovate materials. Teaching as an art demonstrates ways in which the teacher may use creative ways to present the material, so it is fun and interesting for his or her students. Some examples are games, “hands-on” activities, and/ or movies relating to the topics being covered. Art of teaching helps to sustain the interest of learners in class. Today, we are facing difficulty in teaching because of covid-19 pandemic. The teachers extend their teaching in many various ways like online, modules and other distance learning. Teachers also conduct home visitation to help learners to understand and to assess learners’ problem in answering the modules. Our mode of teaching maybe changes because of pandemic but the passion of teachers to teach is always there to help the learners achieve their dreams.
