7.4 English 111 First-Year Writing Award (Student Handout) You are invited to submit work from your English 111 course to be considered for the First-Year Writing Awards. These awards showcase outstanding work by first-year composition students in English 080 and English 111.Papers will be judged by a committee comprised of the First-Year Writing Coordinator and selected English Department faculty. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the Winter semester. Guidelines for Submission:•Papers are to be newly created during the 2020 Winter 111 course or the 2020 Fall 111 course and written in response to an assignment in that course. •Papers should stand alone—except in the case of a summary/response entry, in which case a copy of the piece summarized must be included. •Papers should be engaging and significant within their genre, and should exhibit the qualities endorsed by the English 111 rubric. •All papers should be typed and double spaced. Citations, if used, should be formatted in MLA or APA style. •Only one entry per student will be accepted. •An electronic version of your paper and a cover sheet (see below), both saved as rtf. documents, should be submitted to your English 111 instructor by the last week of class.
