Core message
Autothrottle response in low airspeed conditions
This AIMS BP V17C update adds enhancements to the thrust management computing function (TMCF), allowing autothrottle
detection and response to aircraft low energy states in certain modes.
This update also increases the number of modes that allow autothrottle automatic engagement for low airspeed conditions.
Airspeed low awareness
The current “AIRSPEED LOW” caution alert is triggered when the airspeed falls into the amber band by 30 percent or more for all
flap settings.
With the new AIMS 17C there is a new trigger for Flaps 25 and 30. The “AIRSPEED LOW” caution will be triggered at a higher
Airspeed then with other flap settings, to provide an earlier indication of decaying airspeed at the critical landing phase of flight.

Autothrottle Automatic Activation
Autothrottle Automatic Activation?
AIMS 17 A: there are some exceptions
The autothrottle can automatically activate to provide stall protection
AIMS 17 C: in any case!
Conditon:
•
depending on Thrust and Pitch Mode and
•
speed is less than an FMC calculated value for 1 second and
•
thrust is below reference thrust limit and
During Approach:
RA is above 100ft
After take off:
barometric altitude is above 400 ft

NAV STEP CLIMB Logic
This BP V17C update modifies the flight
management computing function (FMCF) to
implement a conditional deletion of the “CRZ”
page field “1R STEP TO” altitude message.
