OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMS PROVIDED
Cross Cultural Education Programs
Elementary through high school students will have the grand opportunity to
experience various languages and cultures of the African Diaspora that they’ve
likely never been exposed to. Everything from the Dutch speaking Creoles and
Maroons of Suriname to the Bantu descendant Siddhi tribes of India and Pakistan
all will be revealed in a vibrant and engaging way that is sure to leave a lasting
impression on today’s youth. These cultures will be brought to life through
rhythmic drum and dance presentations, heartfelt documentaries, dynamic
speakers from various countries, and the like.
Spanish Study Abroad Programs
It is estimated that Spanish is spoken by 500 million people all over the world.
Spanish is the most-studied foreign language in the United States and the secondmost-spoken language as well. Companies are increasingly seeking bilingual
employees with Spanish being the most coveted language of them all. This
presents a unique and timely opportunity for the Afro-Latino and Afro-American
descendants of the diaspora. Rising Diaspora’s Spanish abroad program would
establish a means of income for impoverished Afro-Latino individuals by providing
a platform for them to teach Spanish as a second language. It will also provide an
invaluable linguistic skill set for Afro-Americans who experience an
unemployment rate of nearly twice the national average. At this rate, not only will
we be dispelling centuries of alienation and mystique, we will making socioeconomic progress as well.
OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMS PROVIDED
TEFL Programs
The TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) industry has been rapidly
expanding across the world due to the ever increasing importance of English
language skills in a global economy. Gaining a TEFL certification will take native
English Speakers of the Diaspora to places far beyond the neighborhoods that
they’ve been cultivated in. The International TEFL Academy estimates that
250,000 native English speakers work as English teachers abroad in more than
40,000 schools and language institutes around the world. Rising Diaspora plans to
utilize this growing industry to provide our English speakers with a skill they can
use as a vehicle to connect with other communities of the diaspora and see a
world far beyond their wildest dreams.
Social Responsibility Program
The Social Responsibility program is created to foster accountability and
awareness within the greater diasporic community. By becoming aware of the
social, political, and economic issues within the diaspora, we can then create a
global network where we can directly impact our community via food drives,
shoes/clothing donations, social media campaigns and more. Members will
receive e-magazines displaying where there time and resources are going, the
individuals they are impacting, and the social progression within the diaspora.
