SCOPE This document covers the load flow analysis of the plant electrical system for switching Transformer during replacement Transformer TRF-1 20MVA; 150/36kV; Ynyn0(d) to New Transformer TRF-2 20MVA 36/10.5kV; YNd11 on the PAMA plant. 2. OBJECTIVE Purpose of this document is: 3. To analyze the load flow before, during and after switching transformer. To verify that voltage variation before, during and switching transformer. Proper Load sharing between transformer to ensure balance power flow. Cable All transmission line and cable from the upstream equipment to the downstream equipment are inputted with the Etap’s library and refer to single line diagram. These models are developed to get the conservative values for voltage drop on each substation. 5.4. Load Modelling The load modellings are assumed that it is 70% of the transformer capacity and composition load are consists of 80% motors and 20% static load. 6. CALCULATION CONSIDERATIONS 6.1. Transformer GT-1 out of service and New Transformer GT-2 in service. 6.2. Design Criteria Design criteria for the PAMA power system are expected to meet the below criteria : 1. Bus voltage variations at normal load demand For 10.5kV systems : +/- 5% For 150kV systems : +/- 10% For 36kV system : +/- 10% For 0.4kV system : +/- 5% > 80% 2. Power Factor at on any receiving point 7. STUDY RESULTS The results of the load flow studies are summarized in the attachment below. Attachment 1 : Bus Voltage Profile Attachment 2 : Transformer Load Flow Summary Attachment 3 : Switchgear Load Flow Summary Attachment 4 : ETAP One Line Diagram Study Report Attachment 5 : Complete Load Flow Report Study Case LF-1 (Existing TRF) Attachment 6 : Complete Load Flow Report Study Case LF-2 (Parallel TRF) Attachment 7 : Complete Load Flow Report Study Case LF-3 (New TRF) 7.1. Load Flow and Load Sharing Based on Attachment-4 (Etap One Line Diagram Study Repot) and Attachment-6 (Complete Load Flow Report Study Case LF-2) there are discrepancies in the power flow and current between TRF-1 (Existing Transformer) and TRF-2 (New Transformer) during the parallel operation. These differences in power flow, which amount to 1460kW and 13.8A cause different on voltage ratio, impedance, winding resistance, and phase shift between the transformers. 7.2. Buses Voltage Variation The result on the attachment 1 (Bus Voltage Variation), indicate that before, during and after switching Transformer the voltage variation still complies with design criteria. Transformer loading The result on the attachment 2 (Transformer Loading Profile and Power Factor), indicate that the existing transformer and New Transformer have enough capacity to supply Load of the power system of the PAMA plant. However, all transformer loading is not exceeded 80% of its rated capacity. 7.4. Power Factor Improvement The result on the Attachment 3 (Switchgear/ MCC Busbar Loading and Power Factor) indicate that the PAMA plant keep acceptance criteria (> 80%) during switching Transformer at any Voltage receiving point for all case. 7.5. Switchgear/ MCC Busbar Loading The result on the attachment 3 (Switchgear/ MCC Busbar Loading and Power Factor) indicate that switchgear/MCC busbar current rating have enough capacity to supply existing load and new Load of the power system of the PAMA plant. 8. CONCLUSION Based on the study results, it has been found that the bus voltage variation, transformer loading, and switchgear loading do not exceed the acceptable values in all cases. It is not recommended to operate the new additional and existing lines in continuous parallel. This is because the two lines have different total impedance, which can lead to circulation currents and subsequent overfluxing and overheating of the transformer. During abnormal operation, transfer power temporary or momentary parallel operation is permissible with the implementation of additional directional overcurrent protection.
