To the Facilitator of Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics:
Welcome to this module Philippine Politics and Governance - Grade 11/12
Modular Distance Learning (MDL) Self Learning Module on the Socialization.
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from
public institution to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet
the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum Most Essential Learning Competencies
(MELCs) in the “New Normal” situation while overcoming their personal, social, and

Politics

Importance: Politics enables individuals to understand what is going on in their

organization towards its direction or goal. This is the principles and policies which the
government follow on its general functions and practice of power.
Importance: It maintains the trust and confidence of the citizens to the direction
of the organization which leads to their cooperation and support to the state programs
and policies.
Example. Execution of principles, policy, and strategies.
Government
Definition: The set of individuals who continuously perform political authority
or power in a well-defined functions and geographical scope in a specific group of
people. Each position or offices are set with specific description of their functions.
Importance: Government enables the society to maintain its order while
aspiring for its goal and direction.
Example. The three branches of the government.
What is it
The reading activity above define the three essential concepts. All through the
entire subject, these will be the fundamental concepts to bear in mind in each topic.
Politics is about the activities of the political groups, governance is the style of the
exercise of power, and government is the individuals holding offices and functions.
Let us deduce the information from the activity so that we can have a deeper
