The Changes I would like to see for a better
world:
One of the most treasured grace bestowed by the Almighty to us is the fact that we
are all part of this earth as humans. In this world, we are all part of different
communities and regions. During the process of evolving and evoking better, we
often got lost in the negativity of the world and started to lie to ourselves. The
world we live in is not as terrible as many of us think, but it requires attention to
make it a better place. To quote Gordon Hinckley, it is not just sufficient to be
virtuous. We ought to be useful in some way. We must make a positive impact on
the planet. Our presence must make the world a better place, and the good that
resides in us must be shared with others.
At this point, one factor is absolutely clear: the world could use a little more peace,
generosity, love, and understanding. There are flaws to be addressed and suffering
to be mitigated. Every individual can make a difference, and no deed is too small
to be significant. The word in Hebrew means to "repair the world," not by
revolutionizing or reinventing it but rather by simply mending and putting the
globe back together for each of us, every single day.
God has bestowed many blessings to humans in mental, physical and social
well-being and has given these blessings to take advantage, in order to make the
world a better place. The world is considered to be a beautiful place put together by
humans, its population is about seven billion, but it is excruciating to say that it is
no longer a safer place due to inhumane choices by humans'.
The idea of restructuring the world can be daunting. It's not only uncomplicated
but understandable to think, "I am merely an alone individual; what can I really do
with my abilities?" One cannot achieve if he follows the mean route of common
people. If every person does just one minor thing to make the world a better place
today, billions of acts of kindness, social responsibility and generosity would ensue
and wouldn't that alone change the face and fate of this planet? I am only one, but I
am still one, I cannot do everything, but I can still do something, and just because I
cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can. These are
some of the words that Helen Keller said.
The major issues that our world is facing today are racial discrimination, poverty,
human trafficking, reservation system, poor education system, lagging judiciary
system, global warming etc, and many more social evils.
Racism, casteism, communalism, sexism etc. aren't externally a major issue, but
indeed a global issue due to its severity. Many people are suffering with these
issues till date but they are silenced by the suppressor. The 21st century is
undoubtedly technologically sophisticated but culturally impoverished. In addition
to that, issues like poverty, corruption, lagging judiciary system, poor education
system etc, oppress the aspirants to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Great
Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to
change the world" yet, the reality is that India is ranked 34th in the world in
Education system. While, 77th in the judicial system, 66th in poverty, 85th in
corruption. We all know that corruption is the root cause of social evils, but we are
least bothered regarding these.
Furthermore, issues like global warming, pollution etc, are slow poisons which are
hazardous to our health and earth. Vast swaths of the ecosystem are being altered
quickly by human activity, such as forests are cleared to create place for
urbanization. Myriad activities, such as overpopulation, pollution, the use of fossil
fuels, and deforestation, have an impact on the physical environment. Major
changes like these have triggered climatic variations, soil erosion, poor air quality,
and non potable water.
To tackle these issues, all must dedicate some time from their routines to make this
better. One should recognize the humanity of other people and respect their dignity.
As Prophet Mohammed said, "people are equal like tooth comb", everyone should
be prioritized so that every good act of us can lead to a better change. As human
beings, it is our mundane task to be generous. We must be civically engaged and
use our rights and execute our duties to develop the world. One should do good
things to influence the world. Lord Krishna sermonized, "yad yad acarati sresthas
tat tad evetaro janah sa yat pramanam kurute lokas tad anuvartate" which means
that whatever action is performed by a great man, common men follow in his
footsteps. And the whole universe aspires to whatever levels he establishes through
his admirable deeds.
Making this world a better place can be done with our minute acts. To reflect our
noble values to the world, one must act with integrity. Donating to charities,
protecting the environment, reducing waste etc, are modest gestures which bring
huge influence. Every small influence makes mighty changes. But those small
impacts need to be consistent.
Making this world a better place to live is one of the hardest quests one can own to
complete it successfully. As a teenager and future citizen of the country, one must
strive for the world, which needs a better scenario for our younger generations than
this.
