LIFTING, TRANSPORTING AND OFFLOADING PROCEDURE
SCOPE
The scope of this procedure provides a detailed description of operations which will be
performed during loading and offloading/stacking of steel material.
It will be addressed to all personnel involved in these operations to indicate the steps to be
followed in accordance with the contractual specifications.
HANDLING OF STEEL MATERIAL AND FABRICATED TANKS
Special care shall be taken to avoid injury to personnel by the steel material and fabricated
tanks This will be achieved by ensuring that the sling of the offloading crane is coated with
soft slings or canvas belt should be used.
Furthermore, crane shall be exercised to ensure that violent impact of the offloading sling
hooks with the surface of the steel material and fabricated tanks during handling and lifting.
In addition, the steel material shall rest on sack of soft loose material which in turn rest on
wooden skids.
TRANSPORTATION OF STEEL MATERIAL AND FABRICATED TANKS
Steel material shall be transported from point of purchase to Mugba Nigeria Limited yard
with most portable transporting equipment for onward fabrication, why finished fabricated
storage tanks will be transported with approved pre-mob trucks to Yonkyks Ya-Star Nigeria
Limited yard or a designated area within Warri metropolis and all traffic regulation shall be
observed during transportation.
