Introduction Our uniform plays a significant role in the Air Cairo brand. When wearing the uniform, we identify ourselves as part of the successfully growing company, therefore, we must be aware that the way we conduct ourselves in it influences the public image of Air Cairo. As Cabin Crew, we are the first line of contact with our passengers, and it is up to us to portray a professional image to our guests. Our image is a part of our brand and influences customer’s perception and choice. Our uniform and appearance are a key element of the Air Cairo brand. We want to project a neat, clean, and professional image. General guidelines This policy sets out uniform and appearance requirements and recommended practices aiming to enhance Air Cairo’s public image and facilitating its external contacts. The aim of the uniform regulations is to ensure clear guidelines are followed across the network. This will support us in meeting set expectations and ensuring our passengers receive a professional service that we stand for. Air Cairo recognizes Cabin Crew as its most valuable asset; accordingly, the provisions of this policy were prepared with a view not to compromise the safety of operations, passengers, or employees, or provides basis for a likelihood of injury to passengers’ feelings and thereby damage the professional standing of the organisation. Any proposed deviation from this policy must be agreed in consultation with the Cabin Crew Manager. The Air Cairo uniform should only be worn at work and commuting to and from work. There are times, however, when due to convenience we may find ourselves in a public place wearing uniform, i.e., gas station, shop etc. Under these circumstances we are still a representative of Air Cairo, and the uniform standards must be adhered to. Any recommendations or questions should be directed to the Cabin Crew Manager. Conduct in regard to the Cabin Crew Uniform Regulations Cabin Crew members are required to: Maintain uniform in an excellent condition; Wear uniform only while on duty or heading to and returning from duty; Wear only allowed uniform accessories and carry only allowed bags/trolleys; Behave professionally at all times when wearing the uniform; Adhere to the standards laid out in these regulations. You are required to read the care labels and instructions carefully to ensure the best possible care is taken of the uniform. Please be advised that dry-cleaning ensures clothes durability. The uniform replacement timeline 12 months Blouse 24 months Jacket, Dress, Skirt, Apron, Scarf, Cardigan, Trousers 36 months Coat Uniform shall be properly fitted. Garments may require proper altering and finishing to achieve a professional adjusting. It is not allowed to have the uniform tight-fitting. Female Uniform Parts Jacket Dress Blouse Skirt Cardigan Trousers Scarf Coat Apron 3.1.1 Jacket While wearing jacket the buttons must be buttoned. Under no circumstances jacket can be worn entirely unbuttoned. When not worn, jacket must be folded neatly and carried over the arm. Hands should not be placed in the pockets of the jacket and sleeves should not be rolled up. Jacket must always be removed for safety demonstration and for any type of inflight service. It is not mandatory to wear jacket for take-off and landing and for embarkation and disembarkation of passengers. It is accepted for the Crew not to have the same appearance in sight of passengers – it is acknowledged that due to different cabin positions, perceived temperature may vary. 3.1.2 Dress Length of the dress should reach under the knee. If required, it should be adjusted to meet the standard. Blouses shall be worn without the sleeves rolled up. Under no circumstances buttons and material can be stretched. Only white undergarments to be worn under the blouse. 3.1.3 Skirt Length of the skirt should reach under the knee. If required, it should be adjusted to meet the standard. Cut of the skirt must be high-waist and must not be altered. No lining should hang below the hem line. 3.1.4 Cardigan It is optional to wear cardigan while on duty. If worn, it should only be worn over the shirt/dress, all buttons should be closed, and it should not be tucked in. Cardigans are to be worn onboard only and not in airports. When wearing cardigan name tag should be pinned onto the cardigan. 3.1.5 Trousers Length of the trousers should reach the rise of the front of the shoe and the middle part of the heel counter, covering one’s ankle. Cut of the trousers should be high-waist and they must be a regular/straight fit. It is not allowed to modify them into a skinny fit. 3.1.6 Scarves Scarf should be tight on the right-hand side around the neck. Scarf can be removed after the demo until top of decent. 3.1.7 Coat It is optional to wear coat while travelling on duty. Length of the coat should reach under the knee, similarly to the length of a dress and a skirt. Whenever not worn, it must be folded neatly and carried over the arm. Hood, if exists, should be removed or never be worn. Coat may be also worn by the Crew when in the terminal. It is accepted for the Crew not to have the same appearance in sight of passengers. Remove any stains or wrinkles from the apron to maintain a professional and well-groomed look. 3.2 Other uniform parts 3.2.1 Shoes Cleanliness Shoes must be always kept clean – this includes the sole and the heel, and well-polished. General Only Plain Black leather without laces or ornaments must be worn. No textured leather is permitted. Allowable toe shape is almond, round, or square. Pointy toe shape is not allowed. Almond toe Round toe Square toe The maximum allowed heel height is 7 cm and minimum heel height is 3 cm, measured on the outside of the heel. Only block and chunky heel type is allowed. Kitten heels and stiletto heels are not allowed. Block heel Chunky heel Low heel Cabin shoes Cabin shoes are allowed to be worn after demo until seatbelt sign off on ground (after landing), and it should be kept easily accessible at all times. Only block and chunky heel type is allowed. Kitten heels, stiletto heels, flat boots or flat ankle boots are not allowed. Shoes are never to be kept in any trolley, containers, or in the galley vicinity. Only plain black or fume tights (voile) are permitted. Opaque tights are not acceptable. The limit is 40 dens, and 20 dens for black is the maximum. It is recommendable to wear the compression tights when on duty. 3.2.4 Bracelets It is not permitted to wear any bracelets while on duty. 3.2.5 Necklace Necklaces should be of moderate length, ensuring they do not interfere with the uniform or safety equipment. Necklaces should have a maximum thickness of 2.0mm and a minimum length of 45cm to complement the neckline of your shirt. The design should be modest and free from any large or distracting pendants. Maximum pendant size of 2.5 cm in diameter. Religion identification pendants are not allowed. 3.2.6 Earrings Round Oval Square – single stone Only one pair of earrings can be worn, one earring in each earlobe. Earrings must be diamond, pearl, silver, or gold colour and cannot be larger than 1 cm in diameter. Earrings should be only round, oval (tear) or square-shaped. Plain, single stone and cluster earrings are allowed. Female Cabin Crew Grooming Regulations 4.1 Minimum makeup Female Crew members should wear makeup while on duty. Makeup should be retouched regularly throughout the day to keep it long-lasting and shine-free. Makeup that is too delicate to be noticed or too exaggerated is not permitted. Minimum mandatory makeup requirements Foundation Blusher Mascara Lipstick/Opaque lip gloss 4.1.1 Foundation Should be full coverage and matching one’s complexion. (Foundation/BB cream/CC cream) 4.1.2 Blusher Should be matching one’s complexion and should be in natural rosy or peachy tones. 4.1.3 Mascara Only black, brown or graphite mascara is allowed. 4.1.4 Lipstick and lip gloss Visible lipstick or lip gloss colour should be always worn while on duty. Orange or Cashmere lips are a statement makeup part that complements the Air Cairo vibrant branding. Make sure that the orange/Cashmere lip colour is visible and stays put. Lipstick is best applied in conjunction with a matching lip liner to ensure longevity. Lip gloss should have an opaque finish. It is not allowed to wear lip gloss of a sheer and transparent finish. Lip balm can be used for hydrating the lips, but even tinted lip balm should not replace a lipstick. Always apply lip balm underneath matte lipsticks. Allowed colours include all shades of Orange/Cashmere. Only orange or peach pastels and earth- tone colours are allowed. Smokey eyes are not permitted, please ensure that eyeshadow is applied professionally. 4.2.2 Eyeliner If used, should be either black or brown in natural style. 4.2.3 Bronzer If used, should be applied evenly and not in excess. 4.2.4 Highlighter If used, should be applied in moderation to avoid ‘wet look’. 4.3 Hairstyle Hair should be styled away from the face and free from any flyaway hair. Whenever hair is worn in an updo, attention shall be paid to tame flyaway hair on the side and above the neck. Asymmetrical cuts and hairstyles in which the hair is cut in such a way that the hair does not have left-right symmetry and one side is cut or appears to be longer than the other are not allowed. Undercuts are not permitted. Wigs, hair extensions, unnatural colours and contrast colours of highlights are not permitted. If the hair is dyed or highlighted, the colour chosen is to be natural to suit one’s complexion. Hair fixing products are recommended. Loose hair and Ponytail are totally not allowed for any type of Curly hair. Gathering hair in a hairband without styling it is not considered a ponytail and is unacceptable. Curly hair must only be styled as a Bun. Hair should have a classic cut and should be always neatly styled. 4.3.2 Ponytail Only middle height ponytails are allowed and should be formed at the middle of the head. It is not allowed to form a ponytail at the crown of the head. (The illustration picture is the guideline) Ponytail has to be sleek to avoid any flyways. Ponytail must be gathered tightly and combed down the top, on the sides and on the area underneath it. Special attention should be paid to the area underneath the ponytail to avoid loose hair around the neck. Ponytail should always be neatly styled by straightening it. 4.3.3 Braid French braid Classic braid Only middle height or low height braids are allowed and should be formed respectively at the middle or at the bottom part of the head. (The illustration picture is the guideline) It is not allowed to form a braid at the crown of the head. Braid has to be sleek to avoid any flyways around the face and around the braid itself. Braid must be gathered tightly and combed down the top, on the sides and on the area underneath it. Special attention should be paid to the area underneath the braid to avoid loose hair around the neck. Bun should be formed at the middle or at the bottom part of the head. It is not allowed to form a bun at the crown of the head. Bun has to be sleek to avoid any flyways. Bun must be gathered tightly and combed down the top, on the sides and on the area underneath it. Special attention should be paid to the area underneath the bun to avoid loose hair around the neck. Allowed bun styles are classic bun, braided bun, French roll and a bun filled with a hair doughnut, or other bun filling accessory. 4.3.5 Fringe It should be cut in a way that does not cover/exceed the eyebrows. In case the fringe is longer, it should be side-swept or parted and styled away from the face and also secured with a hairspray and/or bobby pins. 4.3.6 Hair accessories All hair accessories including hair bands, bobby pins, hairnets and hair doughnuts must always be the same colour as one’s hair colour. Hair band and hair tie Only classic hair bands and ties are allowed. Hair Doughnut Small or medium-sized hair doughnut is allowed to be worn on duty. It is not permitted to use the hair doughnut which diagonal exceeds 8cm due to safety measures. 4.4 Nails Hands should always be well-cared with nails manicured and of the same length. Due to safety measures nails should not be longer than 0.5 cm measured from the top of one’s finger. It is mandatory to always wear nail polish when on duty. It is not acceptable to wear chipped nail polish. Nail polish should be opaque with a full coverage. Semi-transparent nail polish is not permitted. Nail polish should have classic glossy finish. Matt, glimmer, metallic or glittery nail polish finishes are not permitted. Nail polish ornaments are not permitted to be worn on duty. Colours Permitted colours are uniform orange, various shade of nude, as well as a French manicure with a white tip, and a ‘Baby boomer’ based on a French manicure colour (white with beige or powder pink). Allowed nude colour to vary from lighter to darker, either cool tones (with blue undertone) or warm tones (with a yellow undertone). Nude colour should be chosen to suit one’s complexion – it shall be matching one’s skin colour without creating a stark contrast between the skin and the nail polish colour. Shape Round Oval Squoval Nails must have natural shape to be practical and not to obstruct donning of the safety equipment. Under no circumstances buttons and material can be stretched. 5.1.3 Trousers Length of the trousers should reach the rise of the front of the shoe and the middle part of the back of the shoe. Trousers must be worn with belt. Cut of the trousers should be a regular/slim fit. It is not allowed to modify them into a skinny fit. Hands should not be placed in the pockets of the trousers. 5.1.4 Belt Only plain Black leather belts are allowed. Only plain Silver or Black buckle with no labels, markings, or logos. 5.1.5 Gilet It is optional to wear gilet while on duty. On board the coat should only be worn for embarkation and disembarkation of passengers when weather is cold. While wearing coat the buttons and matching belt must be fastened. Under no circumstances the coat can be worn entirely unbuttoned. Whenever not worn, it must be folded neatly and carried over the arm. Hood, if exists, should be removed or never be worn. 5.1.7 Tie and Tie Clip Ties must be worn with the uniform at all times. It is recommended to wear professional tie clip to secure the tie neatly and avoid any loose ends. General Only black plain leather shoes, no trims or ornaments are allowed. No patent or textured leather is permitted. Shoes must be of a classic elegant style. Allowable toe styles are plain, cap and bicycle toe. Plain toe style Cap toe style Bicycle toe style 5.2.2 Boots Elegant boots Chelsea boots Only black plain leather boots, no trims or ornaments are allowed. No patent or textured leather is permitted. Boots must be of a classic elegant style including Chelsea style and they must be well-polished at all times. Boots should be worn under the trousers, not on top. It is recommended that you wear footwear with grip on the soles to help prevent slips and falls. 5.2.3 Socks High socks must be worn with the uniform. Only black plain socks without any ornaments or logos are permitted. Male Cabin Crew Grooming Regulations 6.1 Facial Hair Moustache is the only allowed facial hair. Moustache Moustache hair should not be shorter than 3mm and no longer than 6mm. Moustache must not exceed the corners of the mouth and must not exceed the upper lip boarder. 6.2 Hairstyle Only classic haircuts and styled away from the face are allowed (no wet look, spikes, etc..). Haircut line around ears should be regularly cut. Asymmetrical cuts and hairstyles in which the hair is cut in such a way that the hair does not have left-right symmetry (one side is cut or appears to be longer than the other are not allowed). Sideburns must not extend below the earlobe. Any hairstyle should be kept well-maintained and regularly cut. 6.3 Necklace It is not permitted to wear any visible necklace while on duty. 7. Cabin Crew Grooming Regulations 7.1 Hygiene While on duty one should be always well-groomed, therefore, personal hygiene is of the outmost importance. Hair should be always fresh, clean and split ends regularly cut. Males’ facial hair shall be neatly shaved. Visible body hair, for females, shall be removed. Brows shall be well-kempt. Deodorants or antiperspirant should be used and regularly refreshed during flight. It is recommended to use lightly scented cologne/perfume, although intense fragrances shall be avoided. 8. Mandatory Travel Items Mandatory clothing to be carried by cabin crew on duty include: Extra Uniform. Extra Civilian clothes. Other uniform parts 9.1 Air Cairo half wing, name tag, Stars and Shoulder Stripes It is mandatory to wear Air Cairo half wing, name tag, and stars/shoulder stripes whenever wearing the uniform. Only Air Cairo half wing, name tags and stars/shoulder stripes shall be worn, and no other type is permitted. They should be clean and in good condition at all times. Under no circumstances, any additional pins to be worn. How to wear badges Name tag must be worn on the blouse or cardigan/gilet on the left centre side of the chest. Half wing/stars must be worn on the jacket on the left side. Rank Female Male CC SCCM PUR Instructor/Examiner 9.2 Lanyard and ID Air Cairo company ID card must be worn at all times at the airport using the company lanyard. The ID card is to be removed upon entering the aircraft. Only Air Cairo branded lanyards may be used. Lanyard should be clean and in good condition at all times. 9.3 Rings One wedding ring is allowed to be worn by male Cabin Crew. One engagement, wedding plus one gold or silver plain ring are permitted to be worn by female Cabin Crew. Rings can be worn on no more than two fingers. It is allowed to wear the engagement and wedding ring on the same finger. It must be of classic and elegant design and a moderate size without stones. Strap should be either gold, silver, mixed gold/silver colour stainless steel, black leather. It is not allowed to wear watches with sporty appearance. Analog watch must be equipped with seconds hand/timer and at least five-minute division. Electronic watches including smartwatches are accepted as long as they are equipped with hour, minute and second display. It’s one’s responsibility to ensure the serviceability/battery of the watch, extra watch should be carried at all times. 9.6 Glasses and contact lenses Spectacles, if worn, must have a business-like appearance, plain and moderate size and design. Permitted frame colours include black, brown, graphite, burgundy, dark blue, silver metal or gold metal. Sunglasses, if worn, must have plain and classic design. Permitted frame colours include black, brown, silver metal or golden metal. They can be worn outside the aircraft, with the purpose to protect eyes from the sun. Sunglasses are not to be worn inside airport, aircraft and hotel. It is not permitted to wear them on the top of one’s head or attached to any piece of uniform. No coloured contact lenses are allowed. Extra glasses should be carried at all times. 9.7 Earphones/air pods/etc. Earphones, air pods, etc. are not acceptable to wear them while on duty. Wearing it during embarkation and disembarkation is not allowed. 9.8 Crew bags and trolleys Only one badge is allowed to be attached to the bag. (It must be aviation related) Ornaments or pins cannot be attached to bags. The bag should be always zipped. Trolley bag Cabin Crew to carry a trolley bag while on duty, should choose a trolley bag that fulfils criteria stipulated below. Miscellaneous 10.1 Lash extensions Lash extensions are allowed while on duty only if their appearance is fully natural. Lashes that are too long or too thick are strictly prohibited. The maximum length should not exceed 8 mm. 10.2 Permanent eyebrow makeup Permanent eyebrow makeup is allowed if its appearance is fully natural and colour is matching one’s complexion and hair colour. 10.3 Cosmetic enhancement procedures Any type of cosmetic enhancement procedure must be performed while on OFF days or Leave considering sufficient downtime before duty. Crew should be fully recovered when on duty. 10.4 Piercings It is not permitted to display any sort of piercing/stud while on duty. 10.5 Tattoos It is not permitted to display tattoos on any part of the body while on duty. 10.6 Spare accessories It is mandatory for the Cabin Crew to have spare uniform parts and toiletries - toothbrush, toothpaste and antiperspirant while on duty. Additionally, female Cabin Crew should have a spare tights, shirt, and skirt. Additionally, male Cabin Crew should have a spare shirt, and shaving kit. 10.7 Travelling as a deadhead Crew members travelling as deadhead are to respect all uniform regulations. The only exception is the ID, name tags and Air Cairo wings/stars that are to be removed to allow for distinction from active Crew members. 10.7.1 Dress-code for DHC Head-office and ground duties Crew members taking part in any ground training duty, or any other ground duty are obliged to follow the business casual dress code.
