1) Design the concrete mix according to the following conditions. Scale batch to produce 5-cubic
feet of material.

Required design strength = 4000 psi
Slab thickness = 6 in.
Target slump = 2.5 in.
Statistical data indicate a standard deviation of compressive strength of 400 psi is
expected (more than 30 samples)

Fine aggregate: Natural sand
o Bulk oven-dry specific gravity = 2.49
o Absorption = 1.75%
o Bulk density = 110 pcf
o Moisture content = 0.73%
o Fineness modulus = 3.00
