Latin 1 & 2 Review Project Presentation Dates: A-Day: Thurs, Aug 17th (by end of class) B-Day: Wed, August 16h (by end of class) Directions: You will be assigned a project topic that is either grammar based or culture based from last year. You may use notes, translations, handouts, etc from last year. You may work with ONE partner. You will share your project with the class to serve as a group review in whatever type you select. All projects must be approved by me before presenting. Step 1: Select a Project Type Option 1: PowerPoint Presentation- powerpoints must be detailed and well organized Grammar: if you receive a grammar topic you must include ALL of the following in your PowerPoint o Define what the topic means (ex: tense, what does it do? How is it used?) o How you identify the topic in Latin o Steps to translating the topic o English equivalents (if there is one) o English examples of the topic o Latin examples of the topic (charts, sentences) Culture: If you receive a culture topic, you must include ALL of the following in your PowerPoint o Historical Placement (when in time the event is happening, what else is happening in the ancient world at the time, etc) o Explanation of Participants (ex: Trojan War- who were the main players/what were their fates) o Historical background (ex: Cursus Honorum- how did it develop? What part did it play in Roman politics/society?) Option 2: How To Poster/One Pager Poster (physical)- posters must be well organized, colorful, and easy to follow. Grammar: if you receive a grammar topic you must include ALL of the following on your poster o Define what the topic means (ex: tense, what does it do? How is it used?) o How you identify the topic in Latin o Steps to translating the topic o English equivalents (if there is one) o English examples of the topic o Latin examples of the topic (charts, sentences, sentence diagrams, etc) Culture: If you receive a culture topic, you must include ALL of the following on your poster o Historical Placement (when in time the event is happening, what else is happening in the ancient world at the time, etc) o Explanation of Participants (ex: Trojan War- who were the main players/what were their fates?) o Historical background (ex: Cursus Honorum- how did it develop? What part did it play in Roman politics/society?) Option 3: 1 page paper (no presentation expectation). Your paper needs to include ALL of the following in the format of 12 TNR, double spaced, using correct spelling & grammar. Paper should have an introductory paragraph explaining the project topic o Grammar topics: how is it used, identified, translated, and why it is important to understanding Latin as a whole o Culture: how the topic fit into Roman society, history, or mythology; how it influences our understanding of the Romans and their world. No less then three (3) supporting body paragraphs (5-7 sentences each) each paragraph should follow the format described above for Options 1 and Option 2 content wise.
