So, what's a financial cushion? This is a base layer
to your checking account. Basically its money you
just leave in there to prevent you going into your
overdraft. It also acts as a secondary emergency
fund.
Here at RVN we think a $1,500 emergency fund is
the optimal number for most people. One thing
people forget is that there is this thing called
L I F E. Life will happen. Cars will break down and
homes will need repairs therefore in order to move
onto the next step of becoming financialy free we
need to build that EF up.

Track your finances. This is unbelievably

Creating a sustainable budget is like making a

food in there otherwise your cravings will take
over your will power and cause you to slip up.
Budgeting is very similar. You have to keep the
percentage of wants from 10-30% to prevent
you slipping up and going on a random
shopping spree.
Sustainability is key as one slip up can discount a 4
months gain and put your further away from your
vision you wrote down at the start of this

FF = ME x 12
FF = Our freedom fund. This is what we will use
to gauge how far we have to go until we can
reach financial freedom.
ME = Monthly expenses. I recommend picking a
slightly higher number than your actual
expenses in order to compensate for
fluctuations.
12 = 1 year (12 months) of expenses.
Now, what does this formula mean? This will
be your goal net worth before you can become
financially free.
Building a safe and secure financial cushion
will save your A$$ if your business fails, you
get fired or a ultra large emergency happens.

CFG = ME x 2.5
CFG = Cash flow goal. This is the amount of
gross income needed in order for you to
comfortably live month to month.
ME = Monthly expenses. I recommend picking a
slightly higher number than your actual
expenses in order to compensate for
fluctuations.
2.5 = Optimal number to exceed your ME by.
Now, what does this formula mean? This will
be your goal cash flow goal before you can
become financially free.
Having steady monthly income that is above
2.5 x ME will give you more than enough to
steadily live your life while doing whatever the
hell you please.
