This update also increases the number of modes that allow autothrottle automatic engagement for low airspeed conditions. Airspeed low awareness The current “AIRSPEED LOW” caution alert is triggered when the airspeed falls into the amber band by 30 percent or more for all flap settings. With the new AIMS 17B there is a new trigger for Flaps 25 and 30. The “AIRSPEED LOW” caution will be triggered at a higher Airspeed then with other flap settings, to provide an earlier indication of decaying airspeed at the critical landing phase of flight. AIMS 17 A: there are some exceptions The autothrottle can automatically activate to provide stall protection AIMS 17 B: in any case!
