He. helped lead many peaceful protests and gave inspiring speeches that touched the hearts of many Americans. In spite of dangerous attacks on his church, his home, and his family, King never lost his faith on his determination. He continued to fearlessly leas fight. Dr. King traveled millions of hated by some and honored by many. Eventually, Americans grew to understand that it was wrong to treat black people differently from white people. Many people followed Dr.King because he was trustworthy. They knew he was a honest man, and they could depend on him. He taught people the. Importance of cooperation in working toward a common goal. When King was just 35 years old, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He donated the. Money he earned from the prize right back to the fight of civil rights. Through his years of persistence, Dr.King helped bring about new laws to create equal rights for all Americans. On April4, 1968, at the age of thirty-nine, Dr.King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee just as he was getting ready to lead another protest march for the rights of workers who were being treated unfairly.
