Rotor Fitment and Details Centurion Scientific Limited Welcome It is of p a import ramount read thisance you doc before u ument se to our Rotor Fitment, balancing, care and safety manual Centrifuges can be dangerous if rotors are not correctly fitted, samples are not correctly loaded or poor samples tubes are used. Rotor fitment is from Page 8-41. Please look up the rotor to be used to go to the relevant pages. Read carefully and follow the instructions. We recommend: ● Quality tubes are used ● Y ou balance within 1 gram ● Y ou balance the rotor correctly. ● Y ou always fit the lid supplied ● W e recommend that you check the rotor for cracks reguarly. ! 2 Tubes can break or rupture causing damage or sample failure. We know how much time & work it may take to get to this point to be ruined by a cheap tube. Although our imbalance system is sophisticated and will shut down if exceeded. Centrifugation is about seperation and good balancing gives better separations. Always place balanced tubes opposite to each other, as shown, in the pictures. Lids are used to prevent aerosol effects and reduce air flow and therefore noise. If a crack is found. DO NOT USE. Rotors are under a constant strain and need to be kept clean and checked for strain. DO NOT exceed the life of the rotor 7 years maximum. For samples of an unknown nature we recommend you check before centrifugation by using the Chemical Resistance Table, page 42 onward. We do not recommmend the use of strong acids, strong Alkalis or strong radioactive samples, these can damage the rotors and the Centrifuge. www.centurionscientificglobal.com Index Page 4: Balance. Cell washer rotor Speed max 500-3500 Rpm RCF max 1300 G • High quality Polypropylene • Autoclaveable The rotor in this device can be detached And efficiently function as a holder in Which test tubes can be fitted, Centrifuges, transported, incubated and Emptied without the necessity for Individual handling. 2 sets of adaptors supplied, 12 of each size Our adaptors enable tohe rotor to handle both 10 x 75mm and 12 x 75mm tubes. This included rotor carries 12 tubes but can operate with any balanced load of fewer tubes and any combination of sizes as long as these are properly balanced. This offers comlete flexibility for the user. Use only official Centurion Scientific accessories with your product Always ensure samples are distributed in a diametric pattern to ensure the machine runs balanced. Rotor pins should be kept clean and lubricated on a regular basis. It is recommended that your centrifuge is switched off and the lid left open overnight to ensure that any moisture build up can evaporate. Always ensure that lids and accessories are correctly tightened before running the unit. Ensure that all buckets are present in the rotor when running your centrifuge, as using the unit with an unbalanced rotor can cause distortion and excessive wear. Do not use any kind of scourers or abrasive material to clean the buckets and ensure that a pH neutral cleaner is always used. Aluminium buckets should be kept clean and moisture free to keep them in a good, safe operating condition. It is recommended that regular maintenance and cleaning of the unit and accessories is carried out. www.centurionscientificglobal.com Technical Support Nomograph for RCF Determination Example To find the relative centrifugal force at a radial distance of 10 cm from the center of rotation when operating the centrifuge at a speed of 3000 r.p.m., place a straightedge on the chart connecting the 10cm point on the Rotating Radius Scale (A) with the 3000 r.p.m. point on the Speed Scale (B). Read the point at which the straightedge intersects the Relative Centrifugal Force Scale (C) – in this case, 1000 x gravity. Similarly, if the desired “r.c.f.” is known, the necessary speed for a given rotating radius may be determined by connecting the two known points and reading the intersection of the straightedge with the Speed Scale. Equation for Calculating R.C.F. R.C.F. = .00001118 x r x N2 R.C.F. = relative centrifugal force (gravities) r = radius from center of rotation to bottom of tube (cm) N = rotating speed (rev. per minute) Rotor Fitment and Details 43 STAINLESS ST/L SILICONE RUBBER TEFLON™ POLYPROPYLENE POLYCARBONATE GLASS DELRIN™ ANODIC COATING for ALUMINIUM Key S - Satisfactory M - Moderate attack U - Unsatisfactory ALUMINUM Chemical resistance table CHEMICAL 2-Butanol SU S S 2-Butyl Alcohol S U S S 2-mercaptoethanol S S S S S S S S S 2-Propanol / U S S 3-Pentanone U M S Acetaldehyde S / / / U M S U / Acetic Acid (10%) M S S Acetic Acid (5%) S M S M S S S Acetic Acid (5%) S S M S S S S S M Acetic Acid (60%) S U S U S S M Acetic Acid (60%) S S U S U M S M U Acetic Acid (Glacial) S S U S U U S U U Acetic Anhydride / / U M S Acetone M S M S U S S M M Acetonitrile S S S S U M S S S Acetophenone / U M S Acetylene / U M S Alconox™ U U S S M S S S S Allyl Alcohol / / S / S S S / / Aluminium Chloride U U S S S S U Aluminium Fluoride CS S S Aluminium Potassium Sulphate C S S S Aluminium Sulphate / M S S Aluminum Chloride U U U S S S S M U AmmoniaU S S Ammonium Acetate S S S S S S S S S Ammonium Carbonate M S S S U S S S M Ammonium Carbonate, saturated U S S Ammonium Chloride / M S S Ammonium Chloride, saturated U M S S Ammonium Hydroxide (10%) U U M S U S S S S Ammonium Hydroxide (28%) U U M S U S S S S Ammonium Hydroxide (conc.)
