E. Assignment Task
As we have learned throughout the module, a flourishing life encompasses the
interconnection between physical health and mental wellness. Building empathy and a
growth mindset help us understand the underlying context, enablers, and barriers for desired
healthy living and wellbeing. Improvements in our health and wellbeing entail a complex
interplay of various factors, including physical, individual, social, socioeconomic, cultural,
and environmental factors (i.e., the socioecological model; Dahlgren and Whitehead, 1991).
In a broader context, current digital technologies present new opportunities and challenges
for our personal health and wellbeing. Therefore, it is timely to discuss how technology has
influenced the way we view, approach, and experience healthy living and wellbeing.
Recent technological innovations promise to transform and personalise the way we engage
with health and wellbeing, engendering deeper interconnections between technology, our
personal health and wellbeing. Telemedicine, smart wearable devices, artificial intelligence,
virtual reality, robotics, 3D bioprinting, mobile applications are among the key trends, and the
list is evolving. These examples can spark a reflection on your personal experiences of how
technology, health and wellbeing intersect through an interdisciplinary lens of physical health
and mental wellness.
Write an insightful and succinct reflection essay (750-1000 words) to articulate how
you think technology has shaped your understanding of the interrelationship between
healthy living and wellbeing. Furthermore, discuss how you intend to apply this
connection in your daily life.
Essays should include the following sections:
1. Introduction
2. Interdisciplinary connection
3. Impact of interdisciplinary connection
4. Application of interdisciplinary connection beyond classroom
Learning to develop and present your ideas in a coherent form is part of the learning process
of this assignment. To be fair to every student, instructors will not answer questions
regarding the specific content of your essay, nor read drafts of the essays.

F. Essay Prompts
You may consider addressing the prompts below that serve as a springboard to think
about, integrate across topics and write your reflection essay.
1. Introduction – Setting the Stage
• This section requires you to set the stage and provide an understanding of your
contributions to the reflection around the topics. You will refer to the module content
and may bring in additional sources to support your description.
• Briefly describe the key interconnection(s) between the selected healthy living and
wellbeing topics. You must select one topic from the Healthy Living domain, and
one topic from the Wellbeing domain (see Table below). You may select subtopics within each topic (e.g., discussion of NEAT from the Health and Fitness topic,
or symptoms of burnout from the Understanding Stress and Fostering Self-Care
topic).
• Briefly describe one specific use of technology in health and wellbeing that you will
discuss throughout the essay. In your description, provide a concrete use of
technology from fields including but not limited to telemedicine, smart wearable
devices, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, 3D bioprinting, mobile
applications (see Section E above).

2. Interdisciplinary connection – How Technology, Health and Wellbeing Intersect
• This section requires you to integrate the topics on technology, health and wellbeing.
You will need to draw relationships between these concepts using interdisciplinary
lens.
• Elaborate on the key link(s) identified in Section 1, highlighting the ways through
which the healthy living and wellbeing topics are interconnected, with concrete
examples.
• Discuss the interconnection between healthy living and wellbeing through the specific
use of technology you have described in Section 1. In so doing, illustrate the ways
technology, health and wellbeing intersect, with concrete examples.
3. Impact of interdisciplinary connection
• This section builds on the interconnections between technology, health and wellbeing
in Section 2 to explore its impact on your personal journey of healthy living and
wellbeing.
• Consider the new or different insights that emerged through the specific use of
technology for your personal health and wellbeing.
• Discuss how these insights affirm or challenge your perspective on the
interdisciplinary connection.
4 of 11
4. Application of interdisciplinary connection beyond classroom
• This section requires you to share your experiences in applying what you have
discovered through your reflection on this module, and how your journey with healthy
living and wellbeing has evolved. If you have not been able to apply what you have
discovered, explore and share concrete plans on how you might do so.
• Explain the opportunities and/or challenges the technology presents, and how these
influence – improve or impede – the way you navigate and experience your health
and wellbeing.
• Articulate:
- 1) How might you be able to expect to be able to strive towards healthy living
and wellbeing given the opportunities and/or challenges technology presented
(and if not, identify potential barriers that may hinder you); and
- 2) A clear plan on how you would strive towards healthy living and wellbeing,
considering the efficacy and practicality of the plan.
