N/A Part B Explain – in your own words- your understanding of the project. Use references as appropriate. Max 500 words. The project's purpose was to apply psychological knowledge gathered from personal and group research into a given real-life scenario, to solve a specific problem for a particular demographic. The groups were given a condition to choose the target demographic and use various sources for research outside of the materials provided within this course to come up with a solution for the poor dietary habits of the chosen demographic. Personally, I think, this module does a great job of showing how to apply the knowledge gathered from the main 3 modules (RM1, Brain, and Society), as well as developing the essential skill of teamwork. Since the other modules do not provide practice for group work for a prolonged period, I believe this module is crucial in developing a successful academic and a graduate. Within the project, we researched the dietary habits of different demographics in the UK. We also learned what are good and bad dietary practices. Additionally, we had to research the psychology behind why people choose certain foods over others, how their brains operate and what hormones the brain produces. After the general research, we had to research the demographic we had chosen for our group project (in our case: toddlers). The next step in the project was summarizing the researched information. This develops a crucial skill for any academic who aims to be proficient at making their own research. And the final steps of the project start with gathering all the information on an academic poster while trying to make it as readable for an unfocused eye as possible, by highlighting the main points about the topic, as well as including pictures and graphs where appropriate. Overall, I believe that this project has a great contribution to developing all of the proper skills for becoming a good learner, researcher, group worker, and presenter. It develops both in and intrapersonal skills such as research, summarization, communication, cooperation, and presentation. Part C Provide your reflection on the group work process. You might want to include the following: What worked, what didn’t, what will you do the same next time, what will you do differently? 300 words. I was very lucky with the group I had. Most of our work was went smoothly, though with a few bumps. The first disagreement we had as a group was during the very first session about which topic to pick: toddlers or pensioners. This debate would go on for a couple of more sessions since the opinions in the group differed. Though eventually we came to a common denominator. Reflecting back, I can tell that one of the main things that contributed to that was our research into both demographics. Eventually, with enough information about both demographics, the side that supported the choice of pensioners agreed to work on toddlers as well. Most of our work separation and research went smoothly after that. But when the project was coming to an end, we also faced some issues setting up times to meet outside of class hours to finalize our work. But this was a minor problem, which occurred once, and it was solved with just rescheduling. Looking back, one of the key skills that lead the project to success was friendly communication and breaking that formal barrier that occurs with strangers. Our team didn’t feel like just people working on something together. Our relationships with each other got more personal and we considered each other not only partners in a project, but also friends. This will be a key thing I will focus on in my future modules. Part D APA Reference list for any references included above. Answer here
