A Dozen Pair of Shoes
Oh, how I love to dance! With or without shoes, I move with any music that I
hear.
The story is about a renowned shoemaker who makes lovely shoes for his
daughter. She has a new shoes for every occasion.
The shoemaker’s wife got pregnant when their eldest was in second grade. The
couple waited for so long to have another baby in their family. They were so excited and
and dreamt that it would be a girl to be a ballet dancer.
But all their hopes disappeared the little sister was born without feet. She was
named Susie. because that she had a German Measles during pregnancy which effect
Susie’s condition.
To ease the sadness of her father, the eldest convinced her mother to enroll her
to a ballet school but dancing was not really for her.
She witnessed on how her parents love her sister Susie despite her deformity.
Father always protected Susie on how other people saw her physical defects.
The sisters grew up together close and even discovered their strengths. She was
good on painting and Susie was good on making novels.
One day, Susie dreamed that she has a feet and that she even has a beautiful
shoes made of yellow leather with a design of sunflower on upfront. She wondered on
the dreams of her sister and she dreamed on that whenever her birthday was coming
near.
After few years, her Father retired on making shoes except for his loyal
customers. And shortly years after, Father got weaken and left them when Susie was
twelve years old.
One day, she went to the garage and found something, it was a box full of shoes
that looked new and never been used. She even pondered who’s the real owner of the
box of shoes. But when she opened the box it was full of shoes with the best designs of
her Father. It includes a baby shoes for baptismal and a shoes for all the birthdays of
her sister Susie. Meaning, her Father made a shoe every year for Susie for twelve years
but because of the condition of Susie, her Father can’t give his gift to Susie because
she cannot even use it.
The story showed that our parents love us very much in ways we can’t imagine.
Our siblings, too. I also learned from the story that people must also see the strength in
others despite their deformity because in the eyes of God, we are all equal and He
loves all of us.
