Teacher’s Journal Entry The face to face classes of School Year 2022-2023 have shown the effect of the learning system during the pandemic to the students’ learning style and comprehension skills. The students have been learning through the modules and by themselves for more than 2 years and since it’s a distance learning, the mastery of the lesson during that span of time is not guaranteed genuine. I have observed that students had less learning during the modular distance learning that resulted to their low diagnostic tests scores. In the beginning of the quarter, the students lack the prerequisite knowledge for the lesson intended for their year level. With this, I have to adjust to their level of learning. I have to take the lessons more slowly and find ways to relate the lesson to real life situation to make it more interesting. As a Physics teacher, I want my students to learn how to solve problems that involve sharpening their analyzation and mathematical skills. I have seen that mathematical skills of the students have declined. Therefore, before the problem solving activities, i let them review some of the basic mathematical skills needed for the activity including basic mathematical operations for integers and fractions. Then, after I observed their improvement, I would give them more challenging problems to solve. I also give them plus points if they have answered correctly and shared their answers to the class. Most learners also seek to be entertained during the lesson proper or they get distracted otherwise. Distraction maybe through cellphones or gadgets. I had to implement the no cellphone/gadget rule unless they are told to use it for educational purposes. Another solution I found is to be more creative in delivering the lesson because I observes that the traditional lecture type of delivering instruction is insufficient to catch their attention and therefore, ineffective technique in facilitating the learning process. The learning process have to be simple for the students to absorb easily, I must say. Students’ learning is the teacher’s achievement. ALISA BINN A. APARICI Subject Teacher- SPST1
