He sits slumped against the base of a tree, eyes closed and head hanging slightly. His face is dirty, his beard a wiry mess. Birds chirp softly as we slowly push in until we're right on his face. Suddenly-His eyes SHOOT OPEN. He takes several deep breaths and coughs. Everything is blurry. He slowly gets up, dusting himself off and taking in his surroundings. NARRATOR 1 You wake to find yourself alone in the woods. The Hiker pauses, his eyes looking up and around for the source of the voice. THE HIKER Who said that? Silence. A twig SNAPS. The Hiker spins around but is met with nothing. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He smacks his lips, as if to indicate he's very thirsty. NARRATOR 1 You're dehydrated. THE HIKER What the fuck? The Hiker looks around again, unsure of what to do and panic starting to set in. He takes a step forward, but trips and falls to the ground. NARRATOR 1 Your shoe is untied. The Hiker sits up and notices his shoes is untied. He ties it quickly and with a sense of panic. 2. THE HIKER (as he stands up) Seriously, who is saying that!? NARRATOR 1 You're out of food. THE HIKER (now very confused) How do you-He stops, realizing the disembodied voice raises a good point. He looks to the ground and sees his backpack. He grabs it and upends it. No food. NARRATOR 1 You're miles away from civilization. THE HIKER (into the air) It was just a day hike! NARRATOR 1 You know the sun will be setting soon... The Hiker looks up at the sky. Hopefully it's cloudy. NARRATOR 1 (cont'd) The already dense and dark forest will become more dangerous at night. THE HIKER Shit. NARRATOR 1 There are bears. THE HIKER Really? NARRATOR 1 And moose. THE HIKER I've never seen a moose. NARRATOR 1 And mountains lions. THE HIKER Fuck. 3. NARRATOR 1 And a serial killer. The Hiker suddenly snaps to, very concerned. THE HIKER Hmm?
