Banning Zoos
Zoos are found all around the world and they are a source of
entertainment universally. However, there is always a question raised
upon the subject of the ethicality of those zoos. Like any other
institution, zoos have their pros and cons. Those advantages and
disadvantages will be discussed throughout this essay.
To begin with, zoos are known to entertain humans at the expense of
those poor animals. When zoos hold animals into cages, animals are
fed less than they need and are injected with tranquilizers. All this
causes the animal to be very worn-out and have extensive fatigue.
And the animal must endure all this for humans’ entertainment.
Secondly, keeping animals away from their biomes can cause the
animal detrimental physical and mental health issues. According to a
study conducted in University of Colorado, 70% of animals suffer
either death or terminals health issues from being captivated in cages
and away from their natural habitat.
However, zoos also have some advantages. Zoos help scientists and
zoologists to easily study those animals easily. For example, almost
every animal discovery has been made by the help of zoologists
observing animals in the zoo. And furthermore, zoos can help to keep
endangered species from extinction. When animals are in the forest,

they may be hunted and are exposed to extinction, but with the help of
a safely organized and professional zoo these animals may have the
opportunity to reproduce in safe, comfortable, almost-home
environment .
As you can see zoos have many pros and cons, even more then
mentioned in this essay, however I believe that the cons outweigh the
pros and zoos should be banned as they’re unethical and they’re based
on the ideology of the superiority of humans. Zoos disrespect the
freedom of the agents of our beautiful nature and keeps its freedom
locked in and caged
