INTRODUCTION
The Module – Critical Consciousness and Life Skills (CC & LS) consists
of 3 units;
1. Zimbabwe Strategic Studies (ZSS)
2. Creativity and Critical Thinking
3. Problem Analysis, Problem Diagnosis & Problem Solving
The Context/Background to the Module:
Critical Consciousness (CC) & Life Skills ( LS)
The module is made up of two related components viz; Critical Consciousness and
Life Skills.
However we start with Critical Consciousness, and then Life Skills (LS) later.
The exigency to unpack the module is premised on the want to
• provide a background to the module and
• show how especially the two units of this module are related and seek to speak to
the two components of the module namely critical consciousness and life skills.

The module is intended to;
•
address the shortcomings of Education 3. 0 and to implement Education 5.0
Education 3.0 emphasized teaching and learning to make students;
• pass examinations
• Be employable in commerce, industry, agriculture, education, engineering, medicine, phamacy etc, etc,,
NB: The major shortcoming of Education 3.0 is that did not explicitly aim to equip learners with life skills but
with employability skills. In other words it did not overtly prepare and equip students with out-of-employment
skills
(Lecturer to also provide additional detail on Education 3.0 and Education 5. 0 respectively for the
benefit of the students’ understanding)
Education 5.0
Education 5.0 on the other hand seeks to aaddress the shortcomings of Education 3.0.
It emphasizes teaching & learning which equips learners with;

Life skills and not exclusively employment skills
Out –of-employment skills
Life skills to solve individual as well as colletive life problems
