Introduction History is the study of social life in the past, in all its aspects, of new developments and future expectations. It's the story of a man in time, an investigation of the past based on facts. Indeed, the proof is the raw material of teaching and studying history. It's a survey of what happened in the past, when it happened, and how it happened. It is an investigation into the inevitable developments in human relations in the past and how these developments shape, impact, or decide society's ways of life. History is, or should be, an effort to rethink the past. Collingwood (1945) has a special interest in this idea of history. This module will allow you to understand the significance of history. Past usually falls into five categories: linear: cyclic, spiral, turbulent, eclectic. As also the importance of history and the study of history.
