1. Supporting the mandate of the national policy and the Division Research
Management Guidelines (Division Memorandum No. 160 s. 2023), it is vital that
teachers and non-teaching staff should be guided and trained in the production
of basic education research to ensure the quality of the produced research.
2. With this, the RATE (Research Association of Tanza Educators) and MRC
(Municipal Research Committee) will conduct Tanza Research Training and
Colloquium of Research Proposals on July 7 - 9, 2023, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
3. School heads are advised to assist teachers and non-teaching researchers in
the participation of the event.

Tanza Research Training and Colloquium of Research Proposals
July 7 - 9, 2023
Research Capability Training and Colloquium Guidelines
1. The three-day capability training will consist of four lectures focusing on research
data gathering, and a colloquium of research proposals.
2. Researchers who submitted research proposals to the 8th Cycle of Basic Education
Research Fund (BERF) are all required to attend the lecture and participate in the
research colloquium. Furthermore, studies proposed in the previous school year but
have not been submitted to the 8th BERF Cycle are not allowed to join.
3. Attendance at the three-day lecture and presentation is a must to complete the
required hours for the certificate of participation. Attendance at the parallel sessions is
also encouraged. There are nine (9) virtual rooms on day 1 and five (5) virtual rooms on
day 2 where an audience (presenters and non-presenters) can be chosen to join in. See
the schedule for parallel sessions.
4. All submitted research proposals will be presented in parallel sessions. All presenters
are requested to submit their research proposal on or before July 4, 2023, through
https://tinyurl.com/TanzaColloquiumProposal2023 and check their room assignments
and schedule at https://tinyurl.com/TanzaColloquiumSchedule.
5. Each presenter should prepare a five-to-seven-minute presentation. After the
presentation, there will be feedback and technical assistance from the panel members.
6. Presenters may use the following guide for presentation:
For Basic Research:
• Research Title

work, does the new study build on the previous
ones? Does it therefore add genuinely new
information to current knowledge, or strengthen
previous finding that were limited by their small
sample sizes or other study design issues?
Does the paper address an important issue? How
does the study advance scientific knowledge?
Is the study design clearly described? Are sampling
procedures adequately described, including
inclusion and exclusion criteria? Is there potential
selection bias? Are the statistical analyses
appropriate for the study design?
Is the research clearly written and be easily
