To construct water tank and install Water Filtration Facilities at Luneta Elem. School. 2. To provide clean, safe drinking water and adequate water supply to the school children. Rationale/Project Description: Luneta community is a mining area for how many years. Last 2009, super typhoon “Pepeng” and “Ondoy” hit the province of Benguet and caused heavy damages due to continuous heavy rains and the community was one of the most affected area in the province of Benguet. Many houses have been destroyed and washed away including the old Luneta Elementary School. In this scenario, the community worked together to locate an area for a temporary makeshift classroom so that their children can continue going to school to complete the school year. At present, the school is in a lot owned by the Benguet Corporation with 50 Years Deed of Usufruct. The school relies more on the local government and school funds for physical improvements and other infrastructure projects. Because of its location wherein it is situated on a mountainside, the main problems of the school are: 1. Water tanks for storage of water, hence the school depends on rain as main source of water. 2. Lacks on access to clean water facilities for handwashing and drinking. Relative to this, may we request from your office to construct/donate water tanks and install water filtration facilities in our school.
