Is Video Gaming Good or Bad: Research Proposal
The topic that I will be writing about is video games, specifically if they are good or bad
for you to do. My uncle always played them when I would go over to my grandma’s house. My
family would also have tournaments in sports game, and they always seemed fun to me. Because
of this they have interested me since I was a child and they still interest me today, so while
looking through the topics, this topic is the one that stood out to me the most.
As I mentioned before, I have years of experience on this topic, and I think that it will
really help me in this paper. Recently I had to research this topic for the previous paper, and my
knowledge from video games increased from doing that paper. I have also been an avid video
game player ever since my mom started letting me play. She started letting me play once I started
doing really well in school. I play a variety of different games with my friends, and I have also
started playing with my brother recently because he is finally grown to the point where he can
play. He isn’t as good as I’d like him to be so that I can play with him competitively, but it’s still
fun to spend time with him.
Many people believe that playing video games is bad for you, especially at an early age.
This is because they can expose you to violence, and they can influence your likes in the future.
They also believe that video games take away from your exercise because instead of playing

video games, you could be outside playing a sport or another outdoor activity. I believe that these
things aren’t always correct but can be sometimes. I think that video games are a good way to
improve on skills like team communication, and problem-solving abilities. You can also meet
some great people whenever you play online games, and that is always something fun that you
can look forward to.
My preliminary thesis is that video games are a good thing for people to be doing at
almost any age. Although there are some negative effects I believe that the pros outweigh the
cons when it comes to video games.
