Current Events Assignment ----- What’s Going on in the World?
● Choose one article from a recent newspaper or the following sites

● dogonews.com,
● National Post
● The Toronto Star​.
● students ​MUST​ choose an article that is related to something that is happening in
Canada.
● Once you have chosen an article, read through it and complete the “Current Events
Assignment” sheet.
● You will be assigned or choose a date to present your article to the class. Your
presentation should not go over 3 or 4 minutes. Your sheet needs to be completed
by the date of your presentation.
● For your presentation, you need to bring in a copy of your article, and your
completed Current Events sheet. You also need to think of a question you would
like to ask the class about the article after you have presented it.
● Hand in your completed sheet and your article when you are finished.
● You will be marked using the rubric below:
Success Criteria:
1)Find a good article that is new (current) and which fulfills the requirements.
2)Try to use appropriate spelling and grammar and punctuation.
3)Check the rubric.
4)Include details of your event.
5)Cite your work (provide the newspaper/publication and/or website where you found the
article
6)Provide printed copy of article.
