Experiment name: Study on Low pass filter by using PSpice. Objective: (i) To use a capacitor and a resistor to build and study the properties of a low-pass filter. (ii) To study how low pass filter blocks high frequencies. Theory: Low-pass filter is a filter that passes signals with a frequency lower than a selected cutoff frequency and attenuates signals with frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency. The exact frequency response of the filter depends on the filter design. In a simple capacitive/resistive low-pass filter, it is the frequency at which capacitive reactance in ohms equals resistance in ohms. In a simple capacitive lowpass filter (one resistor, one capacitor) Cutoff frequency = 1/2πRC Circuit Diagram: Apparatus: Simulation software on computer (PSpice) Output: Discussion and Conclusion: After performing this portion of the lab, we saw, that this circuit performed better when it passed signals with lower frequencies. From this observation, we can conclude that in circuits with Low-Pass filters, it will pass signals with frequencies lower than the cutoff frequency.
