Annex A Core arrangements and tapping requirements
Core arrangements:
The core arrangements are shown in A.1.1 and A.1.2. It is important to note the primary polarity
markings with respect to the core arrangement. The six-core arrangement will be used primarily on
phase 1 and phase 2 protection schemes. It will also be used on existing stations with High Impedance
busbar protection schemes with main and check zone configuration. It will also be used where
metering dictates a requirement for a main and back-up metering core arrangement (i.e. – interregional tariff metering or bulk supply metering points)

Specifications:
The specifications listed below are coupled with IEC 60044-4 and SANS 60044-6: only the relevant
output data are given below.
In the case of Class TPS CTs all specifications are given at the maximum tap and can be interpolated
linearly upwards (i.e. I magnetisation in mA).
In the case of metering CTs all specifications are given at the lowest tap and can be interpolated
upward (i.e. Rated output in VA).
