Training on Strategies on Language Learning and Transition:
Improving Early Grade Literacy in School and at Home

Focus: Phonological Awareness and Bridging Strategies
Prepare:
● This is a group work assignment. You can collaborate with two co-participants from the same
grade level to come up with a relevant and creative DLP.
● This DLP is intended to be used for the 1st quarter of School Year 2022-23.
● Select an existing DLP for 1 day you already have for MTB, Filipino, or English. This may be what
you have created and used this school year or a ready-made DLP issued by the division or region.
Create:
● The goal is to enhance an existing DLP and apply learnings from the training. There is no need to
create a new DLP.
● Add an activity for any part of the “IV. Procedure” section of the DLP that focuses on Phonological
Awareness applying bridging strategies and incorporates strategies on Elkonin Boxes and
concept/picture sort activities which focus on phonological awareness. You can also choose to use
activities from figure 3: Progression of Phonological Awareness Activities.
● Your output will be expected to have the following characteristics:
CRITERIA
The lesson activates prior knowledge through lead-in activities
The learning activities are developmentally-appropriate
The learning activities are gender-sensitive and socially-inclusive
The learning activities contribute to the improvement of the
target domain/s of literacy
Different strategies in the training are employed in the teachinglearning process
There is a rubric for the assessment of learners’ performance of
the task that is aligned with learning activities
Learners are engaged through a discussion guided by questions
that target lower to higher order thinking skills
There is congruency of lesson flow in terms of:
● Objective to subject matter
● Objective to teaching procedure
● Objective to formative assessment

Pagkatapos gamitin ang puppet sa pagmomodelo,
ang guro ay magpapatugtog ng isang masiglang awitin.
Bibigyan ng bola ang mga bata . Habang tumutugtog ang
musika, ipapasa nila sa paghinto ng tugtog ay siyang
magpapakilala. Uulitin ito hangggang mkapagpakilala ang
lahat. Gagawing gabay nila ang nkasulat sa tsart:

Babasahin ng guro ang mga pangungusap na nasa pisara
at sasabihin ng mga bata ang dapat ilagay sa patlang.
Sa pagpapakilala ng aking sarili unang sasabihin ko ang
aking pangalan.
Sasabihin ko rin ang buwan, araw, at taon ng aking
kapanganakan.
Babangggitin ko rin ang ngalan ng aking mga magulang.
Sasabihin ko rin kung saan ang aking tirihan.
