ATC— AF16 Antifoam for industrial aqueous systems INTRODUCTION ATC— AF16 is a strong water based defoamer for water & solvent-based coatings. It can prevent foam and blisters during manufacturing and application. It is highly efficient and offers optimum defoaming while utilizing only minimal quantities of incompatible substances. It is extremely suitable for Air-drying systems based on acrylic, vinyl or chlorinated polymers, Fast-drying industrial and decorative finishes based on medium- to long-oil alkyd resins and airless spray applications where the solvents evaporate quickly and rapid defoaming is required. Is suitable for coatings and printing inks. APPLICATIONS Printing Inks and Overprint Varnishes Special Features and Benefits: ATC— AF16 is recommended for defoaming aqueous printing inks and overprint varnishes based on acrylate/polyurethane and polyurethane. Also for aqueous UV systems. Recommended Levels: 0.1-1% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation. The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests. Incorporation and Processing Instructions: The additive can be added at any time during production. The amount of defoamer used is often divided (by adding 2/3 into the millbase and 1/3 into the let-down or finished product). Coatings Industry Special Features and Benefits: ATC— AF16 is recommended for defoaming high gloss emulsion systems based on acrylate/polyurethane and polyurethane in the pigment volume concentration range 0-25. The additive is effective when used in all standard application methods such as rolling, brushing, spraying and pouring. Recommended Levels: 0.1-1% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation. The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests. TYPICAL PROPERTIES Appearance Color Opaque, liquid White Density (gm/ml) 0.90 – 1.00 Nature / type Mineral oil PACKING ATC— AF16 is available 200 kg HDPE drums & 950 kg IBCs. HEALTH, SAFETY & HANDLING Use impermeable gloves and chemical splash goggles when attaching feeding equipment, doing maintenance or handling product. Examples of impermeable gloves available on the market are neoprene, nitrile, PVC, natural rubber, viton and butyl (compatibility studies have not been performed). The availability of an eye wash fountain and safety shower is recommended. If clothing is contaminated, remove clothing and thoroughly wash the affected area. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. In case of spills, disposal must be made in accordance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. Incorporation and Processing Instructions: The additive can be added at any time during production. The amount of defoamer used is often divided (by adding 2/3 into the millbase and 1/3 into the let-down or finished product). Please refer to MSDS for further details. Adhesives Incorporation and Processing Instructions: The additive can be added at any time during production. To ensure that the product quality is maintained, the container should be tightly sealed when not in use. Store at normal room temperature, and prevent prolonged exposure to extreme heat or freezing conditions, which may cause product separation. IF SEPARATION DOES OCCUR, THAW IF FROZEN, STIR THE CONTENTS, AND USE IN THE NORMAL MANNER. TECHNICAL SUPPORT FIRE RISKS For further information about the product, addition, storage, mixing, consults your consultant or local representative. ATC— AF16 is not flammable. Please refer to MSDS for further details. Special Features and Benefits: ATC— AF16 is recommended for defoaming aqueous emulsion adhesives. Recommended Levels: 0.05-1% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation. The above recommended levels can be used for orientation.
