"Philippines’ Ernst & Young 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award" ABOUT WILFRED STEVEN UYTENGSU and his business U ytengsu was born in 1961 in Cebu City to Wilfred T. Uytengsu, Sr. and Bonnie Brooks. At San Carlos College, he completed his primary education and his first year of high school. He continued to finish the final three years at Siliman University, receiving his diploma in 1945. In 1983, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Since 1998, he has served as the Alaska Milk Corporation's president. When his father, Wilfred Uytengsu, Sr., resigned in 2007, he was appointed CEO. From February 1998 to November 2007, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer before being elected President. Since the company was founded in 1994, he has also served as the executive vice president and the chief financial officer. For more than ten years, he also held the positions of General Milling Corporation's Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board. His wealth was acquired through the sale of his family's Alaska Milk stock to Dutch dairy giant Royal Freisland Campina in 2012. Uytengsu is a competitive swimmer and was a member of the Philippine national swim team and the University of Southern California. He was also responsible for bringing the Ironman Triathlon to the Philippines. The Ironman race is a 70.3 mile race that starts with 1.2 mile swim, followed by a 56 mile bike ride and followed by a 13.1 mile run. He is the Chairman and CEO of Sunrise Event, the organization that helped organize the Ironman Philippines. IThe Uytengsu Aquatics Center, the new home of the Trojan men's and women's swimming, diving, and water polo teams, opened in 2014 after Uytengsu donated $8 million to USC Athletics in 2012 (the largest gift by a former student-athlete in the history of USC Athletics). More recently, he committed $2 million to the rebuilding of the Coliseum and gave $1 million to the Greif Center office housed in the new Fertitta Hall at USC Marshall. Now, going to his business, the Alaska Milk corporation which aims is to provide Filipino families and children with accessible nutrition. Holland Milk Products, Inc. starts local production of Alaska Evaporated Filled, Sweetened and Chocolate Sweetened Condensed Milk. Around 1973 it achieves brand leadership. In 1974, Alaska launches the “One-on-One" campaign featuring basketball star Cisco Oliver and Michael the Alaska boy; “Galing mo, man" and “Wala pa rin tatalo sa Alaska" become two of the most memorable advertising lines of all time. In 1977, The “One-on-One" campaign is extended to feature the sports soccer and tennis, and wins awards of excellence in advertising. In 1982, Alaska Milk adapts to suit the changing times and launches advertising campaign to encourage use of Alaska liquid milk in food preparations. In the early 90's, their annual sales exceed ₱1B and maintain its position as market leader. Also, the Alaska Powdered Filled Milk surpasses ₱500M mark in annual sales. It also launched public-service campaign promoting good values among Filipino using its basketball team. During the early 2000's , the Alaska was able to double its market share from 10% to 20%. On 2006, they re-launches Alaska Evaporada and Condesada which targeted " Momprepreneurs," a P2.25 B today. During 2008, Wilfred Steven Uytengsu, Jr., President and CEO of Alaska Milk Corporation, is named the 2007 Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines. The Entrepreneur Of The Year was founded in the United States by professional services firm Ernst & Young in 1986 to recognize the achievements of the most successful and innovative entrepreneurs worldwide. Also during this year the Alaska Milk Corporation introduces Alaska Yoghurt Drink, a ready-to-drink milk naturally fermented with good bacteria which help in proper digestion. In 2009, Alaska Yoghurt Drink extends its flavors. Available in four flavors: Strawberry, Blueberry, Green Apple, and Orange and had hit ₱10 Billion mark in revenues.
