OK Apple fans, got some great news for you.
The iOS 17 update is just around the corner, and it's got a fresh batch of AirDrop
features that are about to take productivity (and fun) to the next level.
First there’s a new pairing system. Sometimes you have to fumble around trying to
connect with the right device. Fumble no more. With iOS 17, AirDrop is introducing a
smoother, more intuitive pairing process.
Your AirDrop identity will no longer be just a name and a device. To make it more fun
you'll have a personalized contact poster on AirDrop. That means you can introduce a
dash of personality.
Best of all, there's an exciting gesture action for initiating sharing. No more digging
around menus to share files. A simple gesture and voila! Your file is on its way.
Efficiency and style, all rolled into one.
Now, let's get serious for a moment. We all know how important it is to ensure our
communications are safe and secure, especially when it comes to business data. That's
why Apple has upped its game in combating graphic or sensitive content. You can share
and receive files with peace of mind, knowing that Apple is keeping an eye out for you.
Even so, it’s a good idea to use a business-specific file sharing program and save
AirDrop for sharing personal stuff. If you need a hand finding the right file sharing
program, get in touch.

Microsoft Edge's new automatic image enhancement service has everyone buzzing. It's
like having your own personal photo editor sprucing up images while you browse.
Sounds fancy, doesn't it? But before we get carried away with the glitz and glamor, let's
take a step back and look at what's behind the curtain.
To provide this service, Edge sends the links of images you're browsing to Microsoft.
Now, you might be thinking, "So what? It's just pictures of cats and memes, right?" But
hold onto your keyboard, because it gets a little more complicated.
Imagine you're browsing through a confidential business document with images or
viewing private photos shared with you via a link. Suddenly, these aren't just harmless
cat pictures being sent to Microsoft - it's potentially sensitive information. It's like
sending postcards of your vacation to a stranger. They might not know where you live,
but they sure know you love the beach!
So, how do you navigate this potential privacy minefield? Don't worry, I've got you
covered. Here's a quick step-by-step guide to turn off this feature:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the 3-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Select 'Settings'.
- Go to 'Privacy, search, and services'.
- Scroll down to 'Services' and turn off the 'Enhance images on the web' option.
And voila! You're back to browsing in peace, without sharing your love for cat memes
with Microsoft.
Remember, as exciting as new features can be, it's always important to consider the
impact on your privacy. After all, your business is your business, not Microsoft's.

Here's a simple question that's guaranteed to get people talking... which is your favorite
browser: Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome? And which do you think is best for
business?
I’m diving deep into the browser battle today. First off, let's give a round of applause for
Google Chrome, the browser that's been with us through thick and thin since its launch
15 years ago. Chrome has been a reliable workhorse, but it's been feeling the heat from
Microsoft's revamped Edge browser lately.
Edge has been turning heads with its impressive features, especially for power users and
productivity fans. Remember when taking screenshots of web pages was a hassle? Well,
Edge has web capture built right in. Chrome, on the other hand, needs extensions for
this. Sure, extensions are great, but there's nothing like having a feature baked in for a
seamless experience.
Let's talk tabs. As a self-confessed tab hoarder, I often have hundreds of tabs open at
any given time. Chrome caps out at 110 tabs, beyond which additional tabs are hidden.
But Edge pulls out a secret weapon - vertical tabs! This feature neatly squeezes all your
tabs into a pane on the left, breaking through the 110-tab limit like a boss.
Finally, Edge's Immersive Reading mode is a godsend if you crave a distraction-free
reading environment. Hit F9, and you're left with just the essential text on a soothing
background, complete with grammar tools and a text-to-speech function.
Sure, Chrome might be able to mimic these features with extensions, but Edge offers
them natively and is constantly improving them.
Back to my question then... which browser is your favorite?

Got any old mobiles shoved away in a dusty drawer at home? You might be sitting on a
fortune and not even know it!
Let's talk about the iPhone 1. I’m talking about the original, the OG, the one that started
it all back in 2007. Specifically, I’m talking about the 4GB model.
You see, when the iPhone first made its grand entrance into the world on June 29, 2007,
it was available in two variants - 4GB and 8GB. Most folks back then were all about "go
big or go home," so they opted for the 8GB model.
The 4GB model, bless its heart, didn't quite catch on. It was like the forgotten sibling at
the family reunion. So much so, that Apple, then under the leadership of Steve Jobs,
decided to pull it from the shelves just a couple of months after its release. Talk about a
short-lived career!
But here's the twist... that makes the 4GB model something of a collector's item. It's like
finding a rare comic book or a limited-edition baseball card. And guess what? There's
one that's still sealed, never been opened, up for auction right now!
This little piece of tech history originally sold for $499, but could now fetch up to 200
times its original price! The auction house estimates it could go for as high as $100,000.
That's a whole lot of dough for a phone that doesn't even have a selfie camera.
Previous auctions for the 8GB model have seen prices soar to more than $60,000. But
this 4GB rarity? It's one of only four being showcased by LCG Auctions right now.
So next time you look at that old mobile gathering dust in your drawer, remember, it
might just be a treasure waiting to be discovered. Who knew being a tech hoarder could
pay off this big?

Ever looked at your mobile charger and thought, "Hey, I bet this little guy could fly me
to the moon?" No? Well, buckle up because you and I are about to embark on a wild ride
of technological perspective.
It turns out that your modern USB-C charger might just have more processing power
than the guidance computer that took Neil Armstrong and his crew to the lunar surface
in 1969.
Yes... a CHARGER. Mind blowing, right?
Apple developer Forrest Heller crunched the numbers and found that the Anker
PowerPort Atom PD 2 USB-C charger he used for comparison runs at a clock speed of
48 MHz, while the Apollo 11 computer operated at a humble 1.024 MHz. That's like
comparing a race car to a tricycle!
In terms of memory, our trusty charger boasts 8KB of RAM and 128KB of flash memory,
compared to the Apollo 11 computer's 4KB of RAM and 72KB of storage. All in all, Heller
estimates that the charger is a whopping 563 times faster, can store nearly twice as
many instructions, and has over double the amount of RAM.
But before you start planning your backyard moon mission powered by mobile chargers,
hold your horses. Heller points out that you'd need four such chargers to replace the
four separate computers on board Apollo 11. Plus, there might be a few other teeny tiny
factors preventing a USB-C charger from piloting a spaceship.
This fun comparison not only showcases the incredible strides technology has made
over the past half-century but also reminds us of the amazing feats achievable with
seemingly modest hardware. So next time you plug in your mobile, give a little nod to
your charger – the unsung hero with the power of a lunar landing tucked inside its
compact frame.

A downside to Microsoft Teams meetings is wanting to experience the conversation as if
you were all in the same room. Get ready... as Microsoft is about to turn your audio
world upside down.
It's introducing Spatial Audio, the next-generation immersive soundscape for Teams
meetings. With either a wired stereo headset or built-in stereo speakers, this new
feature could breathe new life into your virtual meetings.
Imagine this: each voice in your meeting is spatialized across the visual stage in Gallery
view. That means it comes from a specific location, just the same as if you were having a
meeting with someone sat to your left, and someone else to your right.
It's like each attendee has their own spot on the stage, making conversations feel more
natural and easier to follow, especially when multiple people are speaking at once.
Turning on Spatial Audio is easy.
1. Before the meeting: Choose a wired stereo headset or built-in stereo speakers on the
pre-join screen. You'll find the Spatial audio toggle under Device Settings -> Speaker.
2. During the meeting: Click More > Settings > Device settings, then select your audio
device and flip on the Spatial audio toggle.
3. Anytime: Go to Settings and more > Settings > Devices and switch on Spatial audio.
Next time you're in a Teams meeting, try Spatial Audio. It's like having your own
personal sound engineer ensuring you don't miss a beat (or a word).
And the next innovation? Can Teams make a round of coffee?

Do you use Google Calendar? Ever found yourself planning an event or meeting and
wishing you could just hit a magic button to invite everyone all at once?
Wish no more. Google's adding a digital party planner, or the equivalent at least.
Once you've created your event, you'll spot a shiny new 'Share' button nestled
comfortably under the name and date. Tap it, and like magic, you can select which apps
to share your event with – think Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, and more.
Imagine the time saved! The headaches avoided! The convenience! The guests you invite
will have the option to RSVP with a simple Yes, No, or Maybe, and the event link will be
forwarded to their email IDs. Now, if only Google Calendar could also convince them to
bring snacks...
Whilst I don't have an exact release date for this upcoming feature, judging by a video
preview, it seems ready to roll out any day now.
This isn't the first time Google Calendar has wowed me this year. Remember the
surprise move when Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook decided to play nice and
improve their interoperability. That's right, even sworn tech rivals can find common
ground when it comes to making our lives a little easier.
So, whether you're planning a virtual meeting, a birthday party, or a super-secret
surprise event (promise I won't tell!), keep an eye out for this handy new feature.
