This year 2023, through series of discussion, the current Board of Directors of NEPRAGuild, Inc. CY 2021-2023 agreed to continue this mentoring program with the two-goals: apply a mentor- mentee relationship in the conduct of a study, presentation in the conference, and publication of research outputs; and begin to create linkage, network, and collaboration in the areas of nursing education, research and practice. It is recognized that the usual practice of the conference is only allowing completed papers to be presented but through this program, research proposals and ongoing- studies are included. This is an opportunity for both students and professionals to share learning experiences, ideas and be guided by the esteemed nursing research mentors. The mentors, either seasoned or young researchers are preselected by the Board, to initially critique the papers and guide researchers to enhance, improve and putting emphasis the importance of collaboration in research. It is our hope that after the presentations, the work of the mentors will continue the mentor- mentee relationship, this is to practice a ‘helping hand’ and assist the researchers throughout the process of research conduct until dissemination. Through this program, it is highly inspiring also that participating institutions will create a linkage to work in areas of education and practice, and collaborate research projects. This pocket guide of the program are the general guidelines of the concurrent sessions, details of the guidelines for the podium presentations, preparation and submission of presentation, and the guidelines for the session moderators, facilitators and mentors. Several pages are the committed for scientific program of concurrent sessions schedule and the abstracts of the conference. GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF THE PODIUM PRESENTATION The Scientific Program Committee are delighted to have your presentation on this 4th NEPRAGuild Biennial International Conference. As you prepare your podium presentation, please observe the following guidelines for the concurrent session. Please focus on the essence of your completed research or proposal, and eliminate unnecessary background information and lengthy discussion. Your presentation should be an abstract in PowerPoint form. Please do not read your slides. Please include the following: 1. Title Slide. Place here the title of your research and names of authors including your institution. If you are the presenter, you may introduce yourself. Avoid thanking your co-authors. We know that you appreciate their contribution to your research. 2. Disclosure Slide. The participants are requested to put in this slide any presenters and coauthors potential conflicts of interest. This information must be included on the 1st or 2nd slide of your presentation, following the title, and should be projected for at least three seconds. Please use one of the following statements to provide this information: • ‘I (or my coauthors) have nothing to disclose’; or • ‘I (and/or my coauthors) have something to disclose’ along with a referral for more detailed disclosure information. 3. Immediately proceed to the background of the study, framework, purpose, and/ or hypothesis. If you need a couple or more of background slides, that is fine, but be sure that it is essential and useful to the audience. Better identify the issue or gap you want to resolve or why research is needed. 4. Methods. Present in 1-2 slides the information that tells the audience that your research is sound, that your methods are valid, and that you employed appropriate statistics when applicable. Please avoid an exhaustive description of every detail of your methods -- the audience will not remember or even understand in this setting. Important to include are the research design, locale and population including the sample design, sample size, measures or tools used or to be used, data collection procedures and how you analyze the data. For research proposal, you may end your presentation with the significance of the study. 5. Results. Focus on the results that pertain to your purpose, objectives and /or hypothesis. Let us know the statistical significance of your most important findings. The audience likes graphs and tables, but please don't put up a complicated table, flow chart, or graph that is difficult to follow and takes you 2 minutes to explain. Give us the "meat" of your findings. 6. Discussion. Tell us the significance of your nursing research and its clinical or educational significance. Avoid a comprehensive review of the entire history of your topic. Simply discuss why your research is important. If there is previous literature that is supported by yours or that yours disproves, then please let us know that as well. However, focus on the significance of your research. 7. Give only one or two conclusion slides to summarize what your research taught us. You may end your presentation at least one to two recommendations. 8. Your presentation should not be more than 15 slides. Irrespective of how complex your research, you can do this in the 10 min allotted time. You will appreciate it and the audience will appreciate it. At most, the audience will take away 2 or 3 points from your presentation. This format allows a lot of good research with maximum educational value. Take out slides or combine slides to give us only the essence of your research in this presentation. 9. Helpful tips in creating your slides: Use phrases or key points rather than full sentences on each slide. In addition to serving as a more effective visual, this format prevents you from reading slide content word for word. On average, presenters spend 2 to 3 minutes on each slide, so plan content length with this in mind. May we recommend the 2-4-8 rule: Every 2 minutes move to a new slide, with no more than 4 bullet points per slide, and no more than 8 words per bullet. Others recommend the 5×5 rule: no more than 5 words per line of text and 5 lines of text per slide. Use an easy-to-read sans serif font, such as Arial or Helvetica, and remember the 36-28-28 rule for font sizes: 36-point title, 28-point heading, and 28-point subheading. If necessary, 24-point fonts also are acceptable. The font color should enhance readability, especially from a distance. For the background, use a neutral color. Many consider blue most effective. You want to keep it clean, professional, and uncluttered. You may send your presentation at nepraguildsciecom@gmail.com by June 30, 2023 or provide us a soft copy of your presentation an hour before the concurrent session, following this file format: Abstract Number__ and Concurrent Session Number __ (example, Abstract No. 45_Concurrent Session 2). Thank you and please be in your concurrent session room 10 minutes before the session begins. GENERAL GUIDELINES DURING THE CONCURRENT SESSIONS (PODIUM PRESENTATIONS) 1.
