The Kigezi Regional Police Commander, Ibrahim Saiga has asked the
district police commanders in Kigezi region to always consider
women whenever they are indentifying officers to be promoted,
saying it unfortunate that there was no woman who was promoted
amongst all the 52 officers that were promoted recently in the whole
region.
Saiga made the call today while speaking during the piping
ceremony of the 52 police officers in Kigezi region who are part of
1,638 Police officers who were promoted last month by President
Yoweri Museveni, the event that was held in Kirigime guest house in
Kabale Municipality. Said it is –unfortunate that there was no single
female officer that was promoted among the 52 officers that were
promoted in the whole region.
He tasked District Police Commanders and Officer In charge of
Stations in all the districts of Kigezi not to repeat the same mistake
next time adding that they should make sure that the 30 percent of
the people they recommend for promotion should females. He noted
that women need to be promoted so that they can also exhibit their
potential in command and leadership.
