CCC (Crippled Courtroom Chronicles) drama -episode 1 Narrator -Good morning dear friends, today we’ll take a look at quite a peculiar case might I say; it is about the quality of life for two young girls. And what makes the case so peculiar is that these 2 girls, aged 11 and 13, are severely disabled. They live alone at home with their mother and stepfather. The council sent workers to help these children do their daily activities. But soon a new problem would arise; a hoist was used to lift the girls to and from bed or bath, but what about when they had to do other activites they enjoyed? Like swimming or horse riding? Indeed, when they were out of the house, the workers had to carry them! After learning this, the council banned the workers from doing the heavy lifting in order to protect their workers’ health. The girls’ family didn’t appreciate this move from the council as it was affecting the girls’ quality of life and human rights and decided that bringing the council to court was a good idea; it wasn’t. The parties might refer to articles 2, 4 & 14 from the UK human rights act and article 1 from the first protocol.
