IA ECONOMICS A Guideline REQUIREMENTS OF ECONOMICS IA IB STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE THREE WRITTEN COMMENTARIES BASED ON THE DIFFERENT UNITS OF THE SYLLABUS: MICROECONOMICS, MACROECONOMICS, AND THE GLOBAL ECONOMY. EACH WRITTEN COMMENTARY MUST USE A DIFFERENT KEY CONCEPT (SEE NEXT SLIDE). YOU WILL NEED TO EXPLAIN THE LINK BETWEEN THE CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE AND THE KEY CONCEPT. THE MAXIMUM WORD LIMIT FOR EACH COMMENTARY IS 800 WORDS. ONLY USE AN ARTICLE FROM A RELIABLE NEWS SOURCE. D KEY CONCEPT 3 A key concept is identified and the link to the article is fully explained. E EVALUATION 3 Judgments are made that are supported by effective and balanced reasoning. TOTAL MARKS FOR EACH COMMENTARY 14 IA PORTFOLIO (SL/ HL) CRITERION COMPONENT MAXIMUM MARKS REQUIREMENTS F RUBRIC REQUIREMENTS 3 • Each article is based on a different unit of the syllabus. • Each article is taken from a different and appropriate source. • Each article was published no earlier than one year before the writing of the commentary. This criterion assesses the extent to which the student meets the rubric requirements for the complete portfolio. The total marks for the internal assessment is (14 x 3) + 3 = 45 marks.
