Canadian soldier letter
Dear mother,
It has been a long eventful week. We are still in the same place
that we’ve been in since we started fighting this gruesome war.
We’ve been in this place since we got here; the trench. It is not a
good place to be. There is rates and lice crawling all over the
place. And even worst,, I’ve lost all my cigarettes. But the
important thing is I’m helping my country. It is certainly not fun
ending other people’s lives, but it’s even worst seeing my fellow
soldiers go down. I look forward to the end of all, and coming
home to see you and the others.
