To achieve greater congruence between basic education and the nation's development targets, Work Immersion, a required subject, has been incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with opportunities: 1. to become familiar with the work place; 2. to prepare themselves for employment; and 3. to apply their competencies in areas of specialization/ applied subjects in authentic work environments. To achieve the above objectives, Work Immersion is thus a requirement for graduation from secondary education. Learners are immersed in actual work environments such as workshops, offices and laboratories in which their prior training is relevant. OBJECTIVES OF THE WORK IMMERSION Work immersion will help develop among the learners the life and career skills, and will prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary education or employment. Through partnership building, the Department of Education hopes that the partner institutions will provide learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on experience, and additional learning resources. It aims to make the learners: 1. appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories learned in school; 2. enhance their technical knowledge and skills; 3. enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and 4. develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work. (COVER LETTER) (RESUME) DAILY REFLECTIONS USL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL WORK IMMERSION PROGRAM NAME: Bien Paguirigan SECTION: Saint Victoria of Cordoba DATE: 05-15-23 STRAND: STEM-NH TOPIC/THEME: Being an Computer Engineer for 5 days inside TESDA 1. What knowledge have you learned from the day’s session? - To be honest, it's more of a recognition that being an computer engineer is like riding a thrill ride, with task changes occurring regularly and with varying degrees of difficulty. In the five days that we spent inside the TESDA Provincial office, where we completed our out-of-campus immersion, I had to learn this the hard way. 2. What skills have you acquired that can better prepare you for work and life? - On our first day, we were told to be patient and responsible because there might not be much work for us to do, but we should still be ready because some problems will take days to solve and there might be times when you're going to take action and be responsible for it. This is the skill I learned during our five days of on-campus immersion. 3. Which values have you learned and how will this help you in living a good life as an individual person and a member of the community? - This will assist me It can slow you down and stop you from making rash, self-centered judgments. 4. What was the most significant learning that you had for today’s session? Explain why is this so? - From the first to the final day, I learnt the virtue of patience. This skill has enabled me to look deeper into things than they initially appear to be, as well as to maintain my composure under pressure, which is essential in this line of work given how challenging dealing with hardware can be. 5. If you were to suggest, what else would have been included in the day’s session to further enhance the Immersion Program? - I think it would be a good idea to have some unimportant work for us to complete during downtime. NARRATIVE REPORTS USL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL WORK IMMERSION PROGRAM NAME: Bien Paguirigan SECTION: St. Victoria of Cordoba DATE: 05-15-23 STRAND: NARRATIVE REPORT NO: __1__ The first day of the work immersion was, to put it mildly, unremarkable; nonetheless, within the first hour, we were given an orientation and shown around the office of information technology where we would be working. There, Ma'am Josephine and Ma'am Analiza welcomed us and provided us with duties and fundamental instruction during our immersion. But not even an hour into our immersion, there was an earthquake, and we quickly followed protocol and left the room to allow the workers analyze the earthquake's damage. After the earthquake, hardly much was done. NARRATIVE REPORT NO: __2__ We were given the task of enrolling people from various locations and schools on the second day of our work immersion. I was unfazed by this task because I had previously assisted and watched my uncle enroll people from various locations; however, the TESDA uses a different system and has its own website. We then waited for work once more, but it was now 4:14 pm, so nobody arrived. We decided to wait until 5:00 pm and then head home. NARRATIVE REPORT NO: __3__ The flag ceremony was held on the third day, which marked the beginning of the week. Following the flag ceremony, the new director of the provincial TESDA delivered a speech, and then there was a little dance performance for the audience. After the welcoming remarks, we were once more given the assignment to enroll individuals from other schools, and we did so until it was time to leave for home. NARRATIVE REPORT NO: __4__ We are registering again on the fourth day, as some individuals did on the third day, and will continue until it is time to go home. NARRATIVE REPORT NO: __5__ On the last day of our immersion, we certainly enlisted several folks from other locations here on Cagayan again. We ordered pizza around 3:30 p.m. as a small token of appreciation to all of them for teaching us and showing us what Computer Engineering workers go through in a week. As seen in previous days, Computer Engr workload seems to fluctuate randomly and sometimes it's chaotic, sometimes it's easy, but that's what I expected, so I truly thank them for showing that to us.
