SAUSAL MS MATHED EDUC 253 Reflection on the Participants’ Response This chapter talks about how Emily McSpadden, the respondent of the said study responds to the analyses that have based themselves on what she wrote and said about her life. How would she see and what would she think of these researchers’ work? We all know that in various psychological research projects, participants have been given the chance to receive and read the final report. Traditionally, researchers have infrequently contacted participants to learn more and inquire about their responses, let alone presenting them in publications. However, in Qualitative Research, they contend that it is essential for qualitative researchers, as well as psychologists in general, to grasp how research participants are affected by and respond to research findings that concern them. I’ve done researches before in quantitative data analysis; this was my first time to conduct or to have qualitative research. In quantitative, I realize that we don’t approach and asked our participants about their thoughts or perceptions or feelings during the conduct of the study. I don’t even remember going back to my locale of the study and inform them about the result we got, reading this chapter made me realizes that it is really important to ask the participants about their thoughts or perception as a participant in a certain study. It is also significant that we tell them our findings since this issue mainly concerns them. Sharing to them our research findings would help them improve themselves if necessary. I come to realize, that after gathering and analyzing the data, I would go back to Concepcion National High School to inform them about the findings of our study. In such a way, the administration and the teacher can work hand-inhand to help the students’ overcome their difficulties in Mathematics. Mathematics is a core subject of school curriculum. Several students find it difficult to understand and that is why the result of this research would greatly help them. When I do research in the future, either quantitative or qualitative research, I would go back to my locale of the study and share my findings to the persons involved. With this action, the school heads and teachers from that place can develop plans to help the participants. Issues and concerns will also be addressed properly and directly.
