Intro for Seeds of Lagos

To promulgate the importance of the people, William Shakespeare, in the first scene of the Act III of his 16th century tradedy, Coriolanus, asked, "what is the city but the people?" and then he answered, "the people are the city."
But so many government officials of the world only recognise the power the people ought to wield as purported by democracy during elections when they numbers are desperately needed. There are maginalised city structures all over the world that make some less important than the others. One of such cities is the 1,171.28 square kilometres city of Lagos with an estimated population of 15,945,912 according to January, 2023 World Population Review. That is a 3.63% jump from last year's 15,387,639, but in real sense the population of Lagos has risen well over 20,000,000 million, and, sadly, 8.5 percent of that vastly overpopulated city live in extreme poverty.
Whilst the elites of the state and corrupt politicians seeking to make more room for larger world class structures to further enrich their greed, hundreds of house were demolished and this had many, who have been rendered homeless, to find refuge in the growing number of slums hence earning the city of Lagos the moniker, 'the Mega City of Slums.' According to a Human Rights Watch reportage, there are over 380 slums in Lagos during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic stay-at-home containment measure. That figure has skyrocketed.
